But, now you can show them that things did happen back in the 'olden days'. Sorry, these are all from a batch of negatives that were scanned at a low resolution, so they are a bit small. They will get scanned again sometime in the future and there could be more from around the same time frame that are yet to be scanned. These from November 1970.

How come and what year did they change from rh to lh drive ?? Good question, and I am not sure if it was a rulebook change, or just a change adopted to get the driver to the inside away from the fence. As I recall there were still cars in the eighties with the driver on the right hand side, while others had moved to the left. With the tube frame cars that became more common through the eighties, it was easy to build as left hand drive from original getting the driver away from the fence, and also helped inside weight distribution.

Some Aussie cars stll have to be right hand drive, scary. Are Nascar Cup cars not real race cars?

I have found a programme listing from 1972/73 for #77 Jimmy Green in a 1957 Ford V8. And this photo in another programme from the same season. This would probably be the final season for this car as an age limit was introduced for the following season. John F your aging memory is still pretty good. ;D
