That is just so sad, he was just such a great friendly guy who would always stop for a chat and usually a good laugh as well.
Our thoughts are with his family.

What a shock to hear such sad news.
John was one of the first drivers we got to know really well when we first came to NZ and he always made a point of coming around to see how we all were - and he was a driver we would always make time to visit in the pits.
One of the things we will remember of John is his sense of Humour - the first time Kev raced his new car, John and Keith Gill were in the pits waiting for him to come back and see how the car had gone - Kev was so excited - he was speaking so fast - both Keith and John looked at each other, looked at me and cracked out laughing saying 'we never got a word of that!'
A truely nice guy, will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered.
Condolences to his family and friends, may your memories of John help you through the hard time ahead.
Sincerely
Marcia, Kev, Ayrton, Mika and Emerson Smith Superstock Team 64p - The Poms

This is such a shock. I first met John at the nz title in dunedin i was head vehicle checker he came over to the pad and asked me to stamp some wheels i said no problem then i got to his truck there were about 20 of them. Because I also run the crash crew I met John again when he rolled his car in turn 2 I will always remember his words when i poked my head into his upside down car and asked if he was ok "My foot is broken but i got that car with a c on it" only with some more colourful words I also spent alot of time with John when he was in Dn hospital as his family couldnt be there visiting every day till he went home.John is one person I will never forget. RIP Johnny John Gamble and family

John was one awesome guy. Always made me laugh and taking the 61p banana cake walk-abouts returning the empty container at the end of the night asking for a refill. R.I.P John!

Today, Monday June 17th, the tragic news filtered through that John Hynd ex 65B Superstock driver had passed away, this is indeed a huge shock and loss to us all. We all knew John with a smile on his face and taking time for a chat, he had an awesome sense of humour and always enjoyed a cold Tui after the racing! John lived for his racing, especially team racing for the Hawkeyes (and the Scrappers, at Waikaraka Park in 2003 when he was asked to race at very short notice). To all of John's family and friends, we convey our sincerest condolences. Now you will be racing for the A Team in the Sky. Rest in Peace John, you'll be sadly missed. Love from: Lindsey, Sue, Yaz & Daniel (Auckland), Angie & Blair (Tauranga). Uploaded with ImageShack.us. Drawing © Yaz Dolbel, 2003.

John was on my crew for many years during the 90's and was a big part of the Hawkeyes team scene during that time before getting his own car and living his dreams of racing, this news is a huge shock and we are all left gutted, you will be sadly missed John. Leonard Family and crew.
