I think the use of the big screen definitely has merit. I was standing next to a guy during the Nelson/Rotorua race that came over from Aus to catch up with old mates, it was his first visit to the Teams champs. This bloke is no novice in speedway, he once raced in the Ausy team touring NZ in the late 60’s, & more recently has been a sponsor of Skip Jackson, the sprintcar guy, so he knows his stuff. His comments were basically, fantastic meeting, nothing like it anywhere, but what’s going on? & he did ask the question why didn’t they use the big screen. I guess there is the problem of outside assistance to drivers knowing who is in what place, but I definitely thing the big screen could be used in some way. BL

I've been at tracks where I think the same thing - but I want the best of both worlds thanks; no cliches, a PA that doesn't sound like a dentist's drill boring into my head plus being able to hear it ONLY when I want to so I can understand the rulings. ;D Hence, using the big screeen so we can get a clear understanding of the ruling: Ie: "Brett Nicholls - Tigers - relegated five places in last race for being too orange" Of course, if we get a Dutch team at some point, we may need to go bi-lingual on the screen: "Nicholls-tijgers-verdrongen vijf plaatsen in laatste race voor al te veel oranje" darnit, hes onto us again. we were hopign no one would notice the dutch having trouble understanding what was gogin on. but seriously, im sure many of them already speak some decent english. at least all the dutch drivers that have come over in the past for the 240s/global challenge have had pretty decent english. i think english is pretty common for students to take as a second language over in europe 'But seriously', I assumed that was the case.... I'm glad I didn't suggest we needed a Pommy commentator with a thick Northern accent so the UK visitors could understand what was happening...

the screen could be used to relay all decisions as mentioned. although often these decisions cant be given till long after the race, and the driver/team needs to be told first
For those who don't know how it works, this is what happens in champ meeting (incld teams). At individual champ meetings each group is allocated a drivers rep (and assistant if its a big event and the track is onto it). For teams if they are running groups there is a rep for each group. I don't know how pn did it on the weekend but when there is no groups the 3 or 4 reps get together and assign races to cover for each of them normally.
The rep watches the race either with or not to far from the referee, and after each race meet quickly to discuss events, if both are happy all good, if not any incidents are discussed and the referee asks to see the driver involved (manager norm comes in teams events). The ref gets the drivers POV on what happened, and then informs him of the decision, then posts the results.
I tell that story to tell this story..... ;D
They would be able to tell the screen op to put up something like incident involving car XYZ so the crowd know something is up but prob wouldn't be able to do more than that until the decision has been handed down. That would sure be better than what happens now.

Continually banging on about the Nelson reaction is just as bad over-reaction to the incident itself. I'm a Nelson fan and I've raised the issue...and have done so without suggesting anything other than keeping the crowd informed.

ok so there r alot of people dogging the tigers and the whole brett nicholls relegation think, big deal, everybody moaning about the whole think is not guna change the out come, how about instead of dogging the tigers shouldnt we be congratulating the tigers 4 making it on the podium 3 years in a row, everybody knows that making the podium at any big snz event is a big acheivement in itself, they tried there best for themselves and there supporters, but u dont hear the drivers themselves complaining do you, so im guna be the 1st person to congratuale the tigers for getting on the podium 3 years in a row

I was at this event and am a Panther supporter, and i have been going to the stocks for year,s. So to you all. I think there are some good points, but you need to open both eyes, Nelson vs Kings, the kings had two cars pulled off during there race against Nelson. Not a boo was said by Nelson supporter,s over that.
Then it was Stratford that benefited from the pole line cross. I will admit that i was surprised and relieved when Nelson got put out. The Nelson Team is full of talent and really good cars. The final could of gone either way.
But don't take anything away from the Panthers team. The most capped team, the most won team and the most feared team. Nelson are feared as well. when you see a draw they are the two teams that you try to avoid.
So congrats to the Panthers for another win, and Stratford for getting to the final. Now Stratford were a good team who were picked apart 1 by 1 .............................. by a class act in the final.
