Have been to every teams nationals ever held at WP. Even flew back from England just for the weekend in 97. Changed the day of my wedding in 2005 just to go both nights. No way I am going at those prices. Been looking forward to this meeting for 3 months and you are just taking the piss with $65. I was planning on taking 10 people so instead of getting $450 off me for 2 nights you have lost $650. Good luck filling a quarter of your grandstand at those prices. You are dreaming Waikaraka Park. Flew back from England in 97 just for the weekend and you are moaning about paying $10-$15 more than normal!! LOL! If you flew back from England JUST for this event I hardly think you would be moaning about less than $20 now. I like the drama queen act though Air points from flying around the world 4 times in 2 years are wonderful things like free trips home to NZ for a weekend of teams racing. Costed me $100 for 2 nights for me and my family to go not the outrageous $260 you want now. Simple maths would show $25x3000 people= $75000. $35x half that amount coz the rest cant afford it = $52500. So a loss over 2 nights of $45000 in gates alone

Some of you guys on here really piss me off! For months and months you moan about Auckland and the Teams nationals. You are told that it is expensive to run this event and that if it is run the tickets would cost more, then when you are told the confirmed prices you moan and say you are not going to support it!! Get real people!! Capacity at Waikaraka is small therefore to pay the costs to run this event you have to charge accordingly. The club have tried to put on support classes that add value to the program. Sat night in particular is very strong with the Minisprints having the NZGP and the mods having the Akl Champs. Full fields are expected in both classes. Superstocks Teams will not agree to do 3 races in one night so a 1 night event is not workable. With Teams only willing to do a maximum of 2 races a night the format options are limited. If you want to moan about this part moan to the drivers!! The club have tried to attract 8 Teams but only 6 will front. Nothing to do with money as club have been willing to meet the requests in this area. Simple situation is only 6 clubs have been able to find the required numbers to front a team, again blame the drivers! You guys have no idea and find it easier to poke the nuts at the club instead of facing the fact that contrary to what you may want to believe a lot of the Superstock drivers are not interested in Teams racing, plain and simple. This event will run this year, if it fails it may break the club financially. They need to charge prices that hopefully result in at least a breakeven being achieved. If it pans out hopefully the event will get bigger and better next year. If it fails don't expect it to run next season and more importantly don't come on here bleating and moaning about it!! You guys rant and rave about Teams racing being the ultimate but moan about having to pay $10 more than normal to see it, what a pack of tyre kickers! The Teams that are fronting are decent teams and I for one think that the prices are worth paying just to see the Palmy, Bay and Vegas guys up here racing. 18-20 mods is nothing to sneeze at either!! So to Percy and the rest of you with "better options" knock yourselves out but keep your comments regarding this event and future events to yourselves as you have no right to comment. Couple of things: Why $35.00 and $40.00 instead of $25.00? Simple, at $25.00 the event would run at a loss. Why not charge $25.00 and fill the place? Simple, you can't guarantee the place would be full even at $25.00. Even if it was it still might not cover the costs. International night at Springs is only $30.00 so how is this worth more? Do they have to fork out approx $70k in prize/appearance money on International night without any sponsors to stump up?? Answer? No!! This is why the event costs more. The club is not there to subsidize the punters, it wouldn't last long if it was. Just suck it up and wake up people. If you think it is to much then don't support it. If you don't support it then don't complain next year when it isn't run. Simple. Well said, we from palmy and understand the costs. We coming from palmy and happy to $130 for two nights of good racing. Good value for 2 people for 6+ hours entertainment

With out quoting Jamos rant I would like to put a different pitch on it. We are all not business owning people that can fly all over the world, nor do we need to be involved in every club going to see why there is an issue here. For the record superstock teams is the best form of racing we can get and there is a definate shortage of it, and hence the gate price
However I cant see why money cant be made at realistic prices. It was posted on here that it cost 70k to run this meet. I am taking that to be the costs of the teams, not all associated costs of support races , advertising and power etc.
Therefore even if you can't fill your stadium, good money can be made, and at ralistic prices. Lets take all kids out of the situation.
5000 adults at $20 bucks 1st night equals 100k Excluding kids, family prices can be $40 for the sake of easy maths. Therefore 2 adults or a family with two adults will make the same dollars.
Even without adding more dollars to the second night would mean double the above.
Therefore $200k to run the meet. If you are suggesting that Jaffa land plus the people that will travel to the metropolis of Aucktown cant provide 5000 adults each night in the city of 1 million people then the meeting is doomed.
Add an xtra 5 bucks to the second night and that adds even more. Not sure what deals go on with food, and alcohol etc through the club rooms but it adds up to dollars.
As a spectator I want to be entertained and not ripped off.
If you replace the $20 with $30 and the 5000 people with 3000 peolpe the dollars aren't that different. Do WP think they will only get 3000 people or are they out to make nutslo;ds
At the end of this meet feel free to open the books from this particular meet to the public and see what is true. Admittedly it is none of our business but do the maths.
Would 4 teams, 20 supers, 20 mods, and the minisprint title make more of a one night deal?

You will get sweet F all for $35 in auckland, and put $15 more to that and your still a poor man in this city, drinking cans of 10% lager from scotland with the other poor people on the side of the street.
What a load of shiite from some people, you drive all over the island to watch stockcars hoping to see a hit and some action, youve got a promise of action but you get peeved at these prices, its ridiculous, grow some knackers or some hair on em.
You either want this meeting or you dont. If it takes 40 bucks entry pay it and enjoy it or dont pay it and dont enjoy it . its up to you but if you want teams events you gotta pay, simple. Everything is a truck load more expensive these days how is this going to be different.
Those who are speaking for the club have said constantly that its going to cost more than a standard night, on here they have said the price will go up, many of you have said, dont worry, we will pay, but now some of those same people are complaininjg about value before the meeting has happened and dont yet know the value you will get from it. what a bunch of frikken children. I think the club will be quite entitled next season to say ,well, we asked you to come last season, we told you it will be expensive, you said go ahead, we did, you didnt arrive, so this year its not being run and if you want to blame someone, blame yourselves.
Good luck WP looking forward to it.

If not then don't run it as your coffee sipping, art show population can not sustain a meet like this. Travellers form other regions are going to be your crowd.

Sonic, the last time the teams ran we got 4300 total over the two nights. Smashfest is the only event in recent years to exceed 5000 people in a night. Traditionally on a Friday of Teams Nationals the attendance is low. Will we get 5000 this weekend in total, I hope so. If not and the gate prices put people off well we can say we we tried it failed don't do it again. Last time the teams nats ran we had 8 teams lower gate prices, advertising our nuts off and we only got 4300 total. So that didn't work. Loss of $5000.00 ouch don't do that again. So we didn't we never ran it last year for fear of greater losses and the inability to get team committments What is the answer. Cheaper gate prices. No, recent history shows that didn't work. Better show. Yes/maybe but 8 teams could not be sourced. Not through lack of trying or money offered. Less teams coming but change the format so more teams racing to be seen. That's different lets try that. What about increasing the gate prices. We have to suck it and see. If you think it is over priced and don't want to pay it so be it. But you can bet your money saved you will have missed one helluva weekend of action all over the park. As for those moaning about the Friday night support classes. We are a club run facility. Our members want to race on arguably the biggest stage of the year. We have to appease all who make up our club therefore each class gets a run. Craig McL ASSCC Secretary

Where else are you going to get this type of entertainment, for the same cost? We are talking about Teams " NATIONALS ". If you were to attend any other sport at a national level, that provided 3 - 4 hours of awesome entertainment, what would you expect to pay? All of you that are moaning, obviously cant call yourselves real teams racing fans, if your'e quiviring over an extra $15 for the weekend. If you are a regular to WP you would remember that the racing action is usually better than Palmy, ( and without all the politics ). So get over it I say and either turn up and enjoy it and pay the money or stay at home miss all the action, and quit your complaining!!

That makes for some grim reading. Thanx for providing a response and the figures. I have been to the odd teams nationals (admittedly not for a while) and thought the crowds were better than that. Something must be wrong with your city!!!!!!!!!!!! I would have thought 5000 per night would be an easy ask for superstock teams, without the mods and super saloons. That crowd size amazes me. Hope you breakeven at least. Cheers, Sonic.

Its a hard pill to swallow and I hope its all smooth sailing.... Two Big Factors to take into account.
1 Grand Opening of the Warriors at Eden Park against Parramatta and the fact that there are only 6 Teams
Better Format Good Support Warriors are on and that may stop some people from heading down to the park (i hope not)

Money is tight, I've had to pick and choose this season but I wouldn't miss a chance to see the Palmy Panthers, Rotorua Rebels or the Wanderers at full strength! $35 to get in... some people spend more than that at the McDonalds drive thru on the way to the track!
The sport as a whole is undervalued, try paying $34 to sit thru Yogi Bear with stupid 3D glasses on to please an 8 year old who was bored on Sunday. Thats worth moaning about...

Good on you Waikaraka! Make sure you give a product you think is worth the amount you are charging and all is well! The big shows in speedway are well undervalued and Teams should have always been more!
Good Luck guys, if i was up there i wouldnt miss it!
