I wish you all the very best BarryB and totally agree with making the most of every day. Been doing a bit of thinking as you do at these times and saw one the other day that I liked: * Its better to regret things you have done rather than regret things you haven't done. On that count I've lived a pretty full life, but much I'd still like to do. Trouble with metastasized cancer is it can re-emerge, but like you said Barry, I just treat every day as a blessing. And try to use it as a good positive person. Kahu - pic by Sonny Arahanga (Once Were Warriors, The Matrix, Awa Films) Blue Monday in South Taranaki pic by me

Hey ya Go SlidewaysLife sure does throw some real curveball at us sometimes and I really hope you're doing good. Unfortunately I'm getting used to a new way of life that won't be able to include so many of my favorite things in life, but as you say positivity goes a long way. And on that note I'm positive that you tube is going to tell me any day now that I have in fact reached the end and I have exhausted every video they host, until then I'll make the most of it. Hooe you like the fantastic Brothers Osborne.

Nice one Ram. Really cool. Speaking of Rams, As the wave of Ram Raid Robberies on businesses continues pretty much nightly, quiet preparations are being made just in case defense of property on private land is required in our neck of the woods. Anyone can feel like an internet star GTA staunch driver ramming stuff when there's nobody out there hell bent on ramming them back. Not sure but I think this grunty hard hitting 350 Chev Caprice might have a name; "Consequences." There'll be more on this car and lots, lots more cool stuff next week from Mr Wards. As I wander round with Graeme it'll be a show and tell and informal interview too. God willing and all going well, we might get to see 3 generations in the same race at Palmy one night this summer. Lewis, Jayden, and Graeme. Until then we'll just make the most of tomorrow. Cheers Graeme.

Bugger. My ear has constantly caused me pain and I had a bi-opsy on a lump last week and not good news from the surgeon yesterday. The cancer is back and very aggresive, I have to have another operation as soon as possible to remove a large part of my ear. There is a good chance the operation will leave me with nerve damage and look like I've had a stroke. Radiation and Chemotherapy are not an option, if this doesn't work its palative care only. I have to go to Wellington hospital for a special full body scan too. So a stressful time for many people I love and who care about me. I'm not over the moon about it either but whatever will be will be. I'm still 100% going ahead with all the plans and projects I intended, I just have very little energy and no stamina at the moment. Lost heaps of weight, was only 79kg last week, but have put on a kilo and a half since. Thank you very much for your support, have a great weekend I will overcome this one step at a time. x Pete

I've had a couple of those full body scans over the past few months (among a kazillion other tests they do), one called a SPECT CT scan, the other the more well known MRI. They certainly show up everything that is wrong, head to toe, it seems, but the news one gets is rarely good. With the treatment I'm on I get two good days per week, Wednesdays and Thursdays (which is really one long day as I never/can't sleep on Wednesday nights), the other five days varying between not so good, bad, and terrible. Two days per week to get a few things done, but as the treatment also gives me about 24 hours of extremely upset tummy within those two days it's really hit and miss how much each week offers with regards getting out and about a little. Energy and stamina are distant memories currently. Kia kaha Pete. Barry B

Give it all you have Pete. I wish you all the best ( and Barry for that matter) Not sure what projects you have on the go, but if I can help from Tauranga let me know.

I'm having a SPECT CT Scan in Wellinton today, meet with Anethetist Thursday and operation next Wednesday 12th. Good luck Slidey. Those SPECT CT scans take about 1 hour of lying still (if it's a full body one). Extremely boring, but my goodness they show up every little detail the experts needs to see. The day I had mine back in May, they did a couple of more standard scans first, so I was there for hours, but hopefully with you they just do the big one. Otherwise the waiting time between scans is longer than the scans themselves. Barry B

And so - this week the real fight begins.. I have had pain in my ear since the operation in February and had a bi-opsy taken from the area a few weeks ago which confirmed the cancer is back and aggresive. I have quite a big operation scheduled for this coming Wednesday 12th October where the cancer will be cut out along with a big part of my ear. There is a good chance that there will be nerve damage or the nerves will need to be removed completely which will leave me looking like I've had a stroke. Radiation and chemotherapy are not an option so the surgeon has my approval and will be going hard to cut as much out as is needed. There is a small cancer spot on my lip which will be cut out at the same time. While all this was going on I was sent to Wellington for a Spect scan last Tuesday. The Spect scan revealed cancer growths in my lung and in my bowel that weren't picked up by the post operation Cat scan at Palmy. In a way I am fortunate that my ear was causing pain which has ultimately resulted in having the more sensitive Spect scan and early detection, and hopefully better odds for a positive outcome. I have no bowel cancer symptoms or any coughing problem. While I am unconcious having the ear operation they are going to do a colonoscopy and bi-opsy to see whats going on. Nicola and I thank everybody for their support and prayers. Some painful battles on multiple fronts ahead, but I fully intend beating this. Cheers, Pete My lungs My bowel
