At least you got to see a few races Pete. I haven't even heard an engine turned in anger yet. For me, it was back into hospital a little over two weeks ago, followed by a 13.5 hour operation on my right leg (to repair 3 x Myeloma-induced fractures) just under two weeks ago means I now have both femurs completely supported by metal from hip to knee. I have no idea how much I weigh anymore, and how much all of the metal weighs. The left leg surgery back in May was relatively simple due to it being the first operation on that leg, but the right leg was a major task for the surgical team as I'd had massive surgery on that leg back in 1982. They had to remove any existing metalwork that was still in there, do a hip replacement and then work around the existing bone grafts before connecting it all to what was left of the existing femur just above the knee.
The X-rays look like I could be a mobile receiver and/or transmitter for the Five-Eyes spy network. I hope to get out of hospital sooner rather than later, but don't expect to be particularly mobile this side of Christmas, unfortunately. Meanwhile my weekly chemotherapy has had to be paused as well.
Some days Pete the cancer just eats away at your will to live, as I'm sure you're finding, but most days all we can do is give life 100%. It's definitely energy sapping though, as you've mentioned.
Keep fighting Slidey,
Barry B

Keep fighting Slidey, Barry B That reminds me I'm overdue for a skin cancer check, better get off my chuff and get that sorted. Chin up, hope to hear you on the mic again soon.

On May 19th 2011 at 2.34am GoSlideways put up his first post on the GoSlideways board it went like this................ This isn't a very good quality video that I made at all, it's just a test to see if I can upload video here for the very first time. If this works - look out !!! haha GO SLIDEWAYS T.V. is born! haha ;D Jack gives a lesson in how to get a good start in the final race for the North Island Superstock Champs at Robertson Holden International Speedway, Palmerston North. PS: Peter Rees is just a legend, that's all, just a legend. Since then he has put up 5,650 post and had 1,042,863 views. Sadly this isnt Pete ,its Mrs GoSlideways. Thank you all for allowing Pete to come into your computers mainly in the wee hours of the morning and share is passion for speedway, art, music and anything els that was on his mind. He wanted his last post to be of Jack so it would have come full circle. this is one of the last photos Pete took of Jack, he had followed Jack's career since he was young and i think he would have thought it was a cool photo. Jack holding the next generation of speedway races even if he wasn't going to be around to photograph it. Thank you all Mrs Goslideways
