hey mikey69 > 95c is right in what he says . The info that is floating round CHCH is that the car is in Tims shed now < how the deal was done we have no idea . 95c has no involvement with the trade me auction so may be you need to pull your head in and deal with it thru trade me and not go throwing a tannty on this site

ok maybe this thread is the wrong thread to have this disscusion.
All im saying is the rules are constantly changing adding cost and speed with no thought of equality its still who has the biggest cheque book or the best spending sponsors. hey those who know me know i spend but im not that dumb that i cant see the big picture!!!! we need to even the playing field for everyone for our sport and its future joe blogs public needs to be able to reach and compete on a levelish playing field. The control tyre was a thought not saying its the answer but if you cant get power to the track then why have the big dollar engines etc. ok yes the restrictor is the restrictor so to speak and i mean so to speak still the most restrictive part of the rules yes it works. but have we not seen some "innovators" in the inlet tract department? ever wondered why?good old kiwi ingenuity! injection hmmm time will tell lets just say why else would you do it? you can still buy carbs can you not? i know people will come back and say easier on multi valve engines etc etc i say if it aint broke dont fix it. again my thoughts my opinion.

Crikey this thread has take a few twist & turns In relation to the more recent comments about controlling the cost & evening the playing field. This is exactly why I didn't put forward the remit & Proposed constitution changes ONE DRIVER ONE VOTE. If we give the drivers full control over their sport where would the Stockcar class be in 6 years? Hoosiers, Extractors, Quad cam motors, Injection,? it would only take 50% of drivers to want them and they would be in. I was concerned that I would be doing more harm than good. Maybe better the devil you do know. The INTENT RULE is a must in my opinion but how do you pull a class back to what it used to be when so many have spent so much? Why do people keep spouting the cost of New? It's not new they are second hand cars.. . It may cost you that $$$ to build a replacement.. but it's a second hand car.. . It's used.. and the prices should reflect that.

A lot of cars are only on here for sale for "brownie points". They will be the ones that are really overpriced so that there is no way they will sell. This will keep her indoors happy, and you can race it next season to "advertise" it. This is what I did, unfortunatly someone came up with the required price so I had to sell it or be exposed as an addicted racer to the missus. I may have been (im not sure if victim is the right word) of this brownie point scenario and I in no way hold any grudge or whatever toward the owner of a particular car, but heres the story... previous season, not this one just finished, the end of the one before, I took a liking to a car and had the means to purchase it, the advert said the car was ready to go etc etc, we were on hols in CHCH and planned on stopping off in the town where the car was on our way back up country, on the way we got hit in a little accident and just wanted to get home so had to call off heading to the guys place. We were home a couple of days and contact was made again, I offered a price, the answer was no, I made another offer the answer was yes, cool, subject to seeing it and fitting into it, (i always expect to lift a cage so that never bothered me...) I asked when shall I come down? the guy said its at my mates place, there was mention of paint and repairs, the advert clearly said "ready to go", ok another short while passed and im asking can I arrive this weekend check it out and take it home, another story, oh it needs this or some thing, mean time the thing was still being advertised, probably being raced too, I was getting in a bit of a strop privately cause I wanted to drive it in the last meeting at Whangarei, its a bit gentler up there for your first outing and the season was finito elsewhere, still every time I wanted to go there with money in hand there was a reason why it couldnt happen,, anyway, we were having a little renovation done at the house and found a couple of rotten areas in the floors and the more we looked the more we found and pretty quickly the guts of 13 k went out the door in cash, you know if i had the car in possession already we may have been able to find the money required to fix the house, (we wont loan to buy a toy though) anyway it didnt happen, I have no more toy money and even after all this time, the car is still for sale,.weird cause I believe he advertised a new car coming or something or changing class, whatever........Sellers, just like when your selling a house, often times, the first offer you get is the best offer you get, it may well be the only offer you get...... good luck to that guy, your excuses may well have been legit though I doubt it, anyway with the slow down in the market which is as obvious as dogs balls toys are only dropping in value, anyone needing to bail out should grab a deal, with so many guys borrowing to buy cars and over spending due to hype etc there will be people who are already facing negative equity, in fact a huge number of guys will be facing negative equity, hold em or flick em quick because i dont see any economic indicators suggesting things will be going up in value any time soon. I think virtually EVERY class has been mooted over the last 2-3 years. And no, I didn't drive anything last season, other than a few people round the twist.

Yeah unfortunately when you sell things on Trademe there really is no come back from the seller's point of view if the buyer "diddles" you out of a bargain. The other side of it is that although it technically is a legal contract in placing a bid, unless money changes hands you don't own it!
Just be thankful that you didn't get stuck with the car, because if he was willing to swap it for a streetie then it's obviously not worth the money it went for on trademe!
As for the actual discussion on this thread, I must agree that prices have gone up on cars, although it's what you make of it! I brought a good strong car, that wasn't going to be a hotrod from hell, I spent within my budget and had a ball driving it. It does make it hard for the average Joe to step up grades though. If you follow SNZ's ideal stepping ladder you go Ministocks, streeties (maybe), stockcars, superstocks if contact racing is your thing. All of these grades have seen prices go up. I had one of the first ministocks in Chch and I paid $1500 for it, now they are $5000.
But to bring my rant to an end, at the end of the day it's what the buyer wants to pay for it! If you are serious about selling, through it on Trademe $1 reserve, that way you'll get what the buyers want to pay for it and at least it will be sold in 7 days!
