WOW sounds like a lot of you people won't be back tonight. Or maybe you will be there giving them a hand showing them how to do it. No, because its Waikaraka. WP has done alot wrong in the past, but even when they start getting things good again, everyones dissing them. The commentators were crap, and the lights were a bit long coming onto reds when Mike Mac got rolled the 2nd time, but most of this other stuff seems a little petty. Huntly people going on about safety.. why not compare injury records for the year?? cos some people should look at their own track first. We couldnt see any dust except when drivers went over the pole line on the webcast, so it cant have been that bad for the infield dust to show? Phil and Frank.. well on the webcast we didnt see much of that, but those 2 have been doing those sort of jobs for years and have probably done more laps around Waikaraka this week, than anyone that was out there racing has in there lifetime, and have no doubt that noone was in danger. "and for the towies on turn two in the palmy all stars race you don't pull a car away with out supporting the other car what are you guys cow boys" Well, those 2 1500kg cars were jammed in tight and couldnt seperate despite both being under power and one with all 4 wheels on the ground trying to seperate for the entire duration of the race. Do you really think people would want to hold up a car while attempting to rip another car from it? and then theres the Nelson vs Wanganui thing.. watch the video, its made alot of us agree with officials and technology.

To be fair on wp it was a good nights entertainment , but on the other hand u have a promoter ,and good on him is trying, to lift this event to some where like palmy ,the trouble is they seem to be racing off 2 different rule books, must be hard for drivers who come off the back off the palmy teams, who have been smacked or demoted placings to come here and its a free for all doe,s not seem right ,they were on the red lights for every roll bar one sadly its the one people don't forget, wonder how Scott joblin is to day he took a big roll over ,was rolling one way then some how the car dug in and snaped back the other , a very lucky man i would say

After being there for a few years ,as a pick and shovel worker, all i can say is this I wish Bruce all the best in rebuilding W/P to its former glory .

I'm pleased to report that a number of positive changes occurred for night 2!
- Water Truck drivers were driving slower and did not compromise the safety of others. - Show started at 7:10ish instead of 7:20ish. - Support classes were worth watching. On the flipside the officials still called nothing and the commentators weren't too flash but hey small steps. Lets hope the improvements made tonight are the starting point for the next meeting.

MY gripe is (besides the panthers getting ripped off ) is the crappy excuse waikaraka park call a safety fence!!! My partner got absoloutely smashed on the shoulder by a piece of clay nearly the size of a brick! She now dons huge bruising running from her shoulder down to her elbow Now before someone intelligent reminds me that we enter at our own risk etc........me and her are well aware of the risk when watching speedway,BUT..........whats the bloody point in having a catch/safety fence up if it cant contain something like a large bit of clay?? If that had hit a child i have no doubt whatsoever something would have broke,or worse. For those interested we were siting on turn 1.

Yeah we got hit by a bit of dirt off Miers car on night one, came through the fence. Not sure about the financials at WP, maybe it's on the cards?

I brought this up after last years teams nationals. A few days later I received a pm saying this "Just to let you know that SNZ have given W/Park two years to get the fence done" Well its been a year now so maybe we will see a new fence in place for next years team nationals? touch wood. and i'm going to agree with a few other people who have commented in this topic, that god that commentator (don't know his name) not the one on the roving mic but the other standing in the commentators box is so friggin annoying... Its about time they got someone new on board. But other than that imo Waikaraka park did a bloody brillant job this weekend putting on a grouse show for all of us. To all the nit pickers thinking WP still hasn't changed blah blah blah why don't you just piss off? You are forgetting that Bruce has only just jumped onboard, and in my eyes has already started raising the bar. I've been along time supporter of WP and yeah it did go to the dogs but Bruce your a legend I've noticed the difference!

In regard to the lights and MIke Mac's second roll, if it's the guys in the box on pit bend that make the decision to throw the switch, they would have been doing well to see it throught the smoke of the Keven Roberts car, as he was between them and Mike Mac. Not saying it makes it right or wrong, but a bit hard for them to make a call on something they can't see.

Very VERY thick smoke.....

the lights are controlled from the building near the Neilson St entry gate - not by the clubrooms..

Yeah have to agree with Muncho, me and my partner saw the large brick sized piece of track that came through and hit his partner, I must admit you are at risk from this type of thing happening when sitting on a corner, but a large chunk like that coming through the safety fence is just not on in my book.
