Inconsistant and very harsh calls once again by the refs , goes a long way to ruining a great meeting . Agree with Richard Baddily , that the crowd were promised on several occasions as to why certain cars were sent off but we never heard a thing . Maybe if the reasons were put out for everyone to hear there would not be a thread such as this .

Spoke with Miers and KP directly last night about their sending off:
Miers was sent off for his red light on his GoPro - was directly warned and told by the ref's in his prior race to deal with his red light on his camera and they would pull him off if he didn't - he didn't and got pulled.
KP was pulled off due an attack from the grass.

I really can't see any reason for people to be complaining about the refs calls. Very consistent and in keeping with their warnings to drivers at the briefing. A cross section of teams had calls go against them and I for one believe the standard has improved.

Forgive me if what I say has been said here before. Ive had a lot of catching up to do.
Is this thing with cars getting sent off a case of carefull what you wish for, as you just might get it. I recall a month or so back NZ's most preeminent (yeah right) speedway reporter insisting this needs to happen. I assume he would have been well pleased they listened to him and did exactly that.
Be prepared for seveal teams races to have 1 car doing 5 or 6 laps on his own to finish the race, not cause it was a brutal first 5 laps. its cause he was the last man standing after the ref sent all the others off for all mannor of minor and/or major transgressions.

So you are saying that Miers has admitted he was told to deal with the light and warned of the consequences and just ignored the officials ? if that is the case then I feel ripped off as a panthers fan that such an experienced racer and team would behave like that and just caps off a pretty shabby effort from the PN teams this weekend. promised heaps - delivered nothing

At palmy they do have a phone line between the ref and the commentary box. It was used to great effect during stockcar teams and nzs. Why it was not used to the full extent over the weekend is a puzzle to me. But it is good to see some who knows what there talking about in the commentary box and on the infeild. Apart from knowing how Red Wakas there are, how many times did they say Jordan Dare was in RW1?

Seen that last night live couldnt believe it ,he wasnt pulled ,,,, Was good in the warriors race tho he got feed into turn 1 hard KP is a hard man to hide from once he has a car in his sights. (wonder if mark Osborne got to see that hit !? - may have had a little chuckle if he did) But back to the main topic........ I completely agree with consistency and clamping down on illegal/dangerous/cheating sort of moves. BUT..... The quickest way to ruin the spectacle is to be stopping races constantly to pull cars off. Blatant moves YES, minor indiscretions NO. I guess the challenge is how to better define if a drivers actions that is technically outside the letter of the rules, has a material effect on the outcome. Because if it doesn't, DON'T pull them off. Ie pulling out of the grass intentionally and clobbering a car coming past at full speed - OFF. Having one wheel on the grass while leaning on another car - not a big deal!

at the end of the day the busters won get over it. You are missing the point. NOTHING to do with who won, ( and i am glad the Busters did) what people are talking about is refs getting too carried away and pulling cars off. Gets a bit boring when there's about 3 cars left just doing hot laps!!

Why was hardwood demoted or disqualified in the tigers mustang race? If the officials are so onto it shouldn't he be pulled of straight away. Agree with everyone, put a mic on the ref then everything is open and honest for everyone to hear. I'm sure a fair bit booing would occur but hey !

Gets a bit boring when there's about 3 cars left just doing hot laps!! The incidences of cars being removed for these acts will decrease if the policing continues as it was during the weekend. The drivers that seemed to do it consistently over the last couple of years will either learn to drive to the rules, or will be replaced in their teams because they will be a liability. The end result of this is we as spectators will benefit! I say keep up the good work ref.

I also thought I heard one of the commentators mention on Saturday night they weren't going to stop the race and pull every car off for the more minor infringements, or something to that effect. Some infringements only warrant a 1 place relegation surely, NOT being parked up on the grass from lap 1. Let's do it on the terracotta, Barry B

Great weekend of teams. Great to see P cars getting pulled for years that I have been going they always seem to get away with it. Thought Panthers manager stuffed up big time blaming refs for Hawkeyes beating them. Should have said nothing or well done Hawkeyes. Made anyone sitting on fence cheer for Auckland. Keep it up refs I say, was the fairest teams I have ever seen to date.

Did anyone else notice Penn jumping the start against Auckland? I sit right by the start/finish line and it was very obvious.

Yes I think that was really bad from the Panthers Manager and he didn't show much respect to the Hawke Eyes. Very interested to hear Scott Mires was taken of because of a red light in the cockpit, that's always been a No No.
The attacking off the grass rule needs to change. Changes i would like to see are
1.If a car pushes you infield so long as you remain in contact with that car you should be aloud to push your way back onto the track.
2.When rejoining the track from the infield and you are no longer in contact with the car that put you there you must then wait until you have reached the next corner or straight before you make contact with another car again.

Let's do it on the terracotta, Barry B I think it was for the second time with Dare at about the 5 minute mark, was taken to the grass & kept going as though nothing had happened unlike earlier in the race where he looped back around Miers to regain the track You were correct that the commentators said there was a meeting overnight with the managers where it was decided to not stop races & remove cars instantly as they had the first night

Constant wrong info, lack of knowledge about racing rules from said commentator. This is a normal thing for us. The addition of McCarthy and co was good but a regular change needs to happen. I'll do it even or get iaccelerate to do it
