Well once again the 'rigged' draw has turned into palmys favour.... At least this one can now die for this year. What would be the chances of no teams qualifying from Pool 'D'? My thinking is here that all three teams could end the night with one win & a lose, so effectively taking points off each other. Stranger things have happened???

To clarify for people. There was a 1 in 8 chance of Palmy being drawn against the mustangs. Then a 1 in 7 chance of Nelson being in the group. Thats a 1 in 56 chance of the pool D we got. I.e just under a 2 percent chance of it. Most of us support charity through lotto at much worse odds.

With 4 pools of 3, one has to go through. We do not have the points tally of an 11 group format.Top of each pool goes through.

Initially either Palmy or Nelson could have been drawn in the pool, so a 2/8 chance. Once one of those teams was drawn in the pool there was a 1/7 chance of the other team being drawn in the same pool. So a 2/56 or 1/28 chance of that pool being drawn.

Group D .... FFFAAARRRKKK.
Wonder if Pete is questioning his call Perhaps Kerry is a little relieved.
The match up that was wanted, and could have sorted everything on track.
Add Nelson to the unfortunate mix, and a bloody tough group.
I suggest there wont be many suggesting a rigged draw.

Well night 1 is going to be like finals for group D, it just sucks we wont see one of these teams on night 2
Edit: which also means potential for another pool of death next year. Gotta love it

Gotta love it All depends how the points go in their races and how the other groups points go. Two teams could still make the final. If only one team made the final there is still a chance another could get 3rd and 4th.

Only the winner of each Night 1 Group can possibly make the Final.

Will it be names in the hat to get pulled out or numbers that correspond to teams. Oh number 5, thats Palmy, they go into a group with blah blah,....i recall numbers being used before and people claiming that when a supposedly easier group developed Palmy conveniently ended up in there as their number was drawn, A very easy way to manipulate the draw And did the same people allege the same thing when the Panthers and Mustangs drew the same group? Over time you're obviously going to get draws that are perceived as both easier and harder. The other thing is, 9 times from 10 Palmy is seeded so a group does not "develop" for them to slot into - they're already heading it!! Barry B Thoughts Highway45? How was that "easy group" of the Mustangs and the Tigers that "developed" for the Panthers to conveniently end up in? Barry B

Only the winner of each Night 1 Group can possibly make the Final. Barry B So only one team can go through from each group even if a second team got more points than the other highest teams from other groups?

To Tier 1, correct. You race against the other two teams in your group. The 4 group winners go through to Tier 1, and only those 4 can win. The 4 second placed teams in their groups go through to Tier 2. The highest they can finish is 3rd overall.
Where the points you scored in your group is important when related to those scored by teams in the other groups is when it comes to determining who races who on Night 2. 1st on points races 4th on points, of the 4 group winners, and 2nd races 3rd. Ditto in Tier 2.
