Was talking to Karl Ross a few weeks back at Baypark and he is open to teams racing for Gisborne if they need him. Karl Ross was at Waikaraka tonight. The 73g was absolutely flying - very impressive. Who was the 69a Superstock?

Back to the topic of the Gisborne Giants..............
Surely Palmy promotion have to let Gizzy know one way or the other soon. I am only as informed as what has been on hear so don't know what's going on in the background ( if anything ), but with less than two weeks to go it should be common courtesy to let them know either way. I believe a dead line has passed for teams to confirm. Now there are issues with the Chch team. With rumours that some teams would struggle to front Gizzy should have been accepted well before now. If then all other 12 teams fronted then run with a 13 team format. Not ideal, but better to have too many teams, than not fill the minimum 12.
There is a chance that some of the drivers that Bruce doesn't really want will be snapped up by other teams anyway and still be there. Before anyone suggests that Bruce would love to have them, but doesn't want 13 teams, that's rubbish. He has extended deadlines and is giving teams to the last day possible to do everything he can do to provide a decent excuse as to decline Gizzy an invite. Even if it means some teams may be a bit of a throw together ( no disrespect intended). Even if they grant a one year deal to Gizzy with no right of inclusion the following year, and hold spots open for the teams that have shown loyalty and commitment in the past. It's likely it will be a one off anyway, so why stop something that WILL increase the spectacle even more? Because he can is the likely answer to that I suppose.
In some ways I hope, if accepted in the end, Gizzy say thanks, but no thanks, we haven't got time to sort things. Or better yep thanx, see you there, and then not turn up. Lucky they are more professional, and not as pig headed as me. Wait, better still I hope they are accepted and then turn up and smash all to pieces, and come a close second to Baypark in the final.
I am fully aware of what went on last year, but time to move on? Maybe not.

Gordy, I take it this thread is not in the Palmy teams racing folder because they are not a part of the teams champs?

Gordy, I take it this thread is not in the Palmy teams racing folder because they are not a part of the teams champs? It was because I mostly follow the posts by using the 'Recent Posts' option and hadn't actually twigged it wasn't on the teams board. Having said that it's not a thread I relish reading or trying to moderate. I do wish posters were somewhat more moderate in their style of posting and not reacting to non factual assumption. Yes I too wish there was more actual info available but as has been shown by this weekends events nothing can be set in stone until sometime after the last of the big Superstock meetings before the Teams weekend.

Thanx Gordy. As normal teams champs bring out the emotion. Agree you have you're work cut out. Good to see the passion is there in our sport.
Also agree it would be nice to have more confirmed info. All adds to the hype I suppose.

Just imagine how hard it has been on the people trying to get the team ready, only to be told to wait for a decision. Personally, if Gizzy have the team ready to go, and have crossed their i's & dotted their t's, then they should be in, none of this waiting. Maybe, looking at the possible team and nobody has actually said who the team could be, maybe they pose too much of a threat?

People say they may be too much of a threat thats why they think they're being excluded? If thats the case, then nelson, hawkes bay, rotorua, baypark etc should be excluded as well. The deal might not even be coming through on the gisborne end seeing as they are boycotting palmy? Its all hearsay until it comes from the horses mouth so to speak.

[/quote] That is fine. Then say no and run with, 12, maybe 11, possibly 10. Cut ones nose to spite ones face springs to mind. Then what if they say yes to Gizzy and Gizzy say no thanks. Unlikely but not impossible. Incidents like this stop our sport from moving forward. Yes it is Bruce's event but the spectators are the ones missing out. I doubt it will effect crowd numbers, but it could effect the spectacle. Anyone heard of hero and villan. The Rees can be both as people have a love hate relationship with them.

Well sonic no 1 person is bigger than the event itself Quite right, same goes for Bruce! Either way I will be there and it will be a great event. Could even be greater. Last year was one of the best, even without the Rees. Nobody has any influence in what happens on the track, but that is one great team to say no to. Ballsy, stupid, or doesn't care cos he will bank bucket loads either way?

Well sonic I guess if you do a lot for people and they turn there back on you there's gotta be a hesitation with what you do in the future and everybody does things differently.positive side to everything and "The show must go on"

I'm sure both parties have done a huge amount for each other. There's a time to move forward..weather that is now or later I guess is down to those concerned.

I am not pro Rees as such, but just want the meeting to have the best teams on show. Would rather see a very strong Gizzy than an average Chch or Auck. What will be will be. Bring it on.
