It will be the Circus of the year on the speedway calendar .. After 200 approximately Stocks churn the terracota ,clay to pulp ,with no or very little wheel packing classes running the tail end groups will have a unfair chance to qualify . And with curfews in place ,it will a marvelous achievement if every thing is done & dusted on time ..

With this car count why has no one tried a Chilibowl style format 180 cars entered Wednesday / Thursday/ Friday 60 Cars do 3 Heats Top 30 advance to Feature B Main - Top 6 Make it Through Balance to E, F, G Main Balance Based on points will compete in Saturday Alphabet Soup 36 Feature with Top 5 Tranfering to Saturday Championship Final Race the Next 6- 15 into the B Main for Saturday 15-24 C Main and 24-36 D Main You can run a different support class each of the nights and gives the fans four nights of racing. The Main Night can be all go and I would imagine 7 Main Events would be awesome especially if a favourite has to come from deep in the pack. Thoughts? The SNZ Rulebook..............you can only have a two day meeting. Barry B

Thoughts? dont know how much contact class racing you watch but one race final is not the best way. a guy won 3 titles in 4 years in believe. would get the same winners. this way you get different winner almost every time.

It's odd that on the Baypark Facebook page they have that photo of the groups up but are only showing half of each group.

Because nobody has submitted a rule to change it?
I don't think the average New Zealand speedway competitor can afford a week long championship somehow, time off work, travel, accomodation, allow and extra 3-4 days for rain-outs, something the Chili Bowl doesn't have to worry about. At least most of our tracks can actually race two days in a row.............
I don't think such a remit with gain any traction either. Two day titles suit this country, however if the Stockcar class got any bigger they'd need a dispensation to run it over three days I suspect, with two days of qualifying.

I imagine the public would be a bit hesitant to pay 3 nights in a row.

this would be the only track in nz that would have a struggle with this event time wise palmy ran it 5 years ago smaller track fitted in 2 nites,no prob surely b.park can have some dispensation to run up to say 1/2 hour over each nite for such a huge event after all the revenue Tuaranga is going to make will be good for all

Maybe it's time that each track's local champs is a form of pre-qualifying for the NZ's.
There are 16 tracks eligible for stocks i beleive.
If the top 6 at each track champs got entry into the NZ's that would provide 96 cars.*
4 groups of 24. Top 6 in each group qualify (24), next 15 cars go into 2 repo's (30 each, G1&3, G2&4), remaining cars into teir 3 (12) 3 from each repo into final (Total 30), next 15 in each repo into Teir 2 (30), last 12 in each repo (24) to teir 3 (total 36, allows for withdrawls or damaged/unfixable vehicles) cars/drivers move up from below for withdrawls as normal.
*-Local champs- Top 6 (non pre-qualified drivers) at each local champs make the list. Decision on weather local champs are closed or open entry upto each track. (along with allowing pre-qualified drivers) If open entry this provides more chances for those who have not got on list yet, but will have to travel (good numbers at smaller tracks-better spectacle, more crowds)
Any merit in something along these lines?

BarryB can you quote the rule that limits titles to 2 days? No. Maybe I made it up. But I do know until the mid eighties you could only run single day meetings. Barry B

although a 3 night deal sounds good, would it not put extra strain the club and speedway nz volunteers that run the sport,
maybe a regional qualifying system, 1 regional in the South Island, 1 upper north, 1 lower north, 10 cars out of each, to pre qualify for a one night nz champs? maybe even make it so you dont have to qualify in your own region, you can travel to get in if you want,
