I believe that with teams becoming more consistent in their line ups from year to year that there needs to be more seeded teams, or some form of a ranking system. I understand this is hard with the likes of Kihikihi coming out of the blue and in previous years no warm up races to determine a teams ability. But you would have to feel a team has been hard done by if they draw “the unseeded” Kings and Giants.

This will be a little long, but stick with me... Following on from these 2 ideas I think teams champs should be the top 12 teams over the two nights in the 4 group format to find your semi finalists. Given that's what I reckon, now how do you get to your 12 teams? Do you run with Percys 3 night deal where on night one of three teams not seeded in the top 4 (or maybe 6) compete to find teams 5 (or 7) thru to 12, with those 12 competing on nights 2 & 3? Or do the 12 teams from last season become seeds 1 thru 12 for next season? If you run with Percys three night deal, night 1 doesn't need to be the night before nights 2 and 3, tho it could be. It could also be in palmy on Dec 27 or 28th. Given that in this day and age its unlikely that the Panthers AND Mustangs will both be seeded in the top 4, then you would assume this would work for palmy promotion as there SHOULD be a local team involved. On top of that it's already a date they use for a big local promotion with a normally big crowd attending. Failing that night 1 COULD be at say Huntly teams. I'm only blue skying this and in no way suggest Huntly would sign up to anything of the sort but it would add more prestige to the Huntly meeting that they could charge the punters a premium for. Obviously they (or whoever did host it) would have to pay Palmy some fornof licence fee, so it's passive income for the owners of the "Teams Champs" event concept. If you run with Keesas idea of more seeds then any teams wishing to compete call out a seedes team, who must then host the challenge before maybe Jan 10th. So for example KK lost to Welly at Welly last December. This would mean KK would need to find another seeded team to beat at the seeded teams home track. If KK (unseeded) had beaten Welly (3rd seed) then the Panthers would now be seeded 3 and every one below them would move up 1 seed. KK would be seeded 12th and Welly now unseeded looking for a date to challenge someone in a hurry. As I say these are just some ideas for comment but when I'm the Prime Minister...

Axe the year round More FM "theme song" for the track - the one that plays after the "Welcome to Robertson Holden International Speedway" and has featured some of these punishing hits: Carly Rae Jepsen - Good Time Paramore - Still Into You Black Eyed Peas - I Gotta Feeling George Ezra - Shotgun Instead, bring back Russell's favourite hype tune! The one that gets everyone singing, dancing and up on their feet... DJ Ötzi - Hey Baby It's been a few years since this banger was last heard at Arena Manawatu, please make it happen for 2020 Stumo

I wonder Al if you would be willing to say to face the two teams and numerous crew members and there families and loyal supporters, then gather all together and you say to them all "P\Off the lot of you I've decided you aren't wanted at the teams champs cause I want 12 teams only. If you personally were willing to do this then I may give some credence to you suggestion of reducing the number of teams. And if you were silly enough to do so then, even though I like you I don't think could bring myself to visit you in hospital, because is the likely outcome of your bravery\stupidity.

I'd be happy to say it to their face, it's quite simple, all that needs to happen is to outline the max amount of teams at the beginning of the season and put in the ground rules about max teams etc etc. Its then upto the teams regarding who enters first with confirmed numbers etc.

I have never been a fan of that song but that man has just changed my mind. What an absolute legend!! It's random people like him who make the weekend. Get him back and on the bigscreen in 2020!!!

Yip, I'd be happy to do that. In fact what I'd probably do if I was in charge is ring the team manager of any team who failed to qualify the day after they failed to qualify and encourage them to carry onI. As someone else has said you don't just decide on the 20th Jan that there is only going to be twelve teams. During the off season you announce the qualification process so the teams who don't have automatic entry thru seeding, can chart their journey to the teams champs in Feb. Every team in the country will have the chance to be there but on the actual weekend only the 12 who qualify will be.

Put the prices down on the tickets, and have more GA instead of all reserved seating Have an area specially for those that want to drink and bring back the family atmosphere

If you're seriously advocating having only 12 Superstock Teams races for the same price on night one instead of 14, then I don't fancy your chances of ever being "in charge."

Quality over quantity. 12 teams is (assuming 16 teams is a bridge too far at the moment) the ideal number for the best format. 8 seeded teams get automatic entry. 1 promoters choice for when either GB, Panthers or Mustangs don't make the top eight. Leaves 3 or 4 spaces for the qualifiers how ever that is done. I'm not advocating abut any team be denied a chance to qualify but only the 12 best make the main show. Would I rather miss out on two teams races in order to see a far fairer and better overall event? Yip sure would. The draw could be done straight after the event every year. Winner to top seed group 1, second is top seed grp 4, 3rd tops grp 3, 4th into grp 2, 8th to grp 1, 7th to grp 4 and so on leaving one space in each grp for next year's event for the qualifiers /promoters choice. Sounds so easy to me, so that means it will prob never happen till I am the Prime Minister

The drinkers are often the rowdy good time atmosphere that we like so much. I for one will spend all day at the pub make a snake out of my empty cups and ring my cowbell with gusto and every year the punters around me mention how they dreaded sitting next to a Waikato fan but turned out to be a good time because I was respectful. Not all who drink will ruin your weekend some will enhance it with fun and banter.
