Fast Lane Spares Oceanview Family Speedway is ready to rumble. Practice: Saturday 10 October at 2pm and 4pm, Sunday 11 October at 2pm. Pit gate opens at 12 midday both days, and the public is welcome. Opening meeting: Saturday 17th October at 6pm It's going to be a busy programme this year, with several of last year's championships and Memorials to be run in the early part of the season. There's been some amazing work going on is sheds around the district since Covid, and there will be a few surprises in the Superstock ranks. Both 1NZ Randal Tarrant and 11G Peter Rees will be there on opening night. 25V Carl Burns hasn't sold the car that took him to the Superstock points title last season, so he'll be racing again, along with the other four SS Motorsport Superstocks of Shaun Smith (53V), Max Holloway (81V), Hayden Green (4V) and Maddie Wise (136V). Ex Stratford and Bay Park teams racer Bruce Williams will be running as 41V this season, and is available for the Wanganui Warriors. Things are shaping up for an awesome season at the Oval by the Ocean! Here's a few photos to whet the appetite. The 46V Ministock is the youngest of the Mooney clan, Ashton, who will make his racing debut this season!

Wanganui will fare very well this season I'm picking, rumour has it a no holds barred 57h is joining the Superstock ranks but I don't know much about the driver or car. Yours sincerley. Undecided voter.

Nope, it's definitely farewell as in farewell Jacinda, don't let the door hit you on the arse on the way out! 😜 Wanganui will fare very well this season I'm picking, rumour has it a no holds barred 57h is joining the Superstock ranks but I don't know much about the driver or car. Yours sincerley. Undecided voter. Best of luck to all Lower North Island tracks for the session ahead. I for one hope they all fare well and that Wanganui do well out of being the first of them to open.

Saturday 17th October, isn't that the same night as Jacindas farewell? Sure is. I'll have my laptop and iPad in the commentary box to follow the two TV channels, and will monitor Twitter on my phone - in-between races, of course!

Very early on in his Superstock career, he showed 97M Aiden Eustace that he doesn't take any prisoners! There are other rumours doing the rounds, but they remain rumours at this stage. It will be interesting to see who rocks up for a skid at practice this weekend

At the end of the video, you hear someone say "That's payback". The story I heard was that 97M hit 57H while Marshall was still running a yellow flag as a newcomer to the class. When Marshall had the chance for some payback, he certainly didn't miss!
If he is contracting to the V this season, we'll be very happy!

Spectacular footage yes. If it wasn't teams racing nor major championship then I would call this sort of thing, even though it probably falls within the rules, pretty idiotic. Exactly the sort of thing the 'straight lining' rule was supposed to have put a stop to. I guess we will just have to wait until someone gets badly hurt again for that rule to be revisited. BL

Was just a normal race and highly illegal, Dylan got a 3 week stand down but it happened right in front of me and was pretty cool to see at the time.

There are plenty of things to like about the fields so far. The 14 V Superstocks entered so far bodes well for the season ahead, and Bruce Williams, Dylan Marshall and the Dykstra family are very welcome additions. The Jurgens Motorsport team increases to three cars, with Karl's car finished and ready to race. We're delighted with the support from visiting drivers, and the list of entries is likely to grow between now and next weekend.
In the Stockcar class Dion Mooney, Callum Sturzaker and Gerry Linklater will debut their brand new cars, while other drivers have updated in the off-season, and there is a bunch of new names. It's especially good to see 898V Sandy Flett back racing after a few seasons off.
Other classes racing will be Ministocks, Production Saloons and Minisprints, with Sidecars to be confirmed. I should have some photos after practice this weekend.
