The story has changed a bit.. It was a piece of the diff, not the engine... So the mother complaining about the height of the fence.. Hmm It was ok before the incident. 🤔 The story just refers to "debris" doesn't it? Or did it originally mention "engine" and has since been changed? Barry B Yes the original story which was written by a woman that actually has no idea about speedway, said it was an engine part, but it was definately from the diff The flame when they collided was pretty cool, but not the aftermath.

I suppose the bits I took out of it that made it seemed emotive was using quotes like "... lips were deathly grey" and "... still feels the effects of that devastating night". As anyone who has dealt with media enquiries knows, the best bits will always get cherry picked out of your media statement/interview! :-) And yes thankfully anything getting through/over the fence is far less common these days. I was standing Turn 1 at Rotorua a few years watching Scott Joblins wheel come hurtling down the track towards us (the alloy hub drama!) and that wasn't a pleasant feeling - and unfortunately that clobbered someone when it came over the fence. At no point did the mum, or the reporter get into blaming the drivers, the track, or speedway itself as a sport, for the accident. That made a pleasant change. I must admit, 99% of my 25-30-odd years on the infield (10 years as a photographer and then on the roving mic) I felt safer out there than in the stands at some tracks, because most loose projectiles fly outwards. An unconscious Roydon Collingwood powering across the Rotorua infield at full throttle towards me was a different matter however. I don't think he was quite as close to me as I first thought, however if I'd stepped rapidly left (straight into his path) instead of rapidly right (in my mind it was a 50/50 call with about 1 second to decide) I wouldn't be typing this today. Luckily nobody else was in his path, and all ended well including for the two unconscious drivers on track (Collingwood at one end and Steve Hampton at the other). Barry B The fact that Roydon missed you AND only ended up with a broken collarbone was the best outcome possible there! Was scary to watch! Was also good to see the concrete blocks on the infield did their job during the 240's, when during the Ladies Crown 189R had a KO and banged into the blocks, luckily not at full throttle! But the safety crew all had their back to her, so would have been a bad outcome without the blocks!

Does anyone know how many teams for the Streetstocks this week ?
Before the initial rainout there were 5, but looking at the driver entry list on the Glen website, no I or E cars on the list as yet

Looks like just 3 which is pretty disappointing.Even if they had a 4th team that would of made it somewhat better

Looking at those names maybe they are all over 50 and have their old cars sitting around ? The Kiwi 19c panel van might be out hopefully
Sadly only 3 teams have been confirmed for the state of origin. A Canty B team or something would be good to make it 4

As he works for Msport and lives in the Uk i doubt after tonight we will see very much of Malcolm Read the only reason he is in New Zealand is cause he had annual leave he had to take and last weekend he was down in Dunedin at Otago Rally doing some Co,driving with his mate Dylan Turner and tonight he jumps back in the 41c Stadium Finance Rees Superstock to rub some siderails

That effort from the Cobras tonight is probably 1 of the biggest chokes I’ve seen on a speedway track, well done to the Bulldogs, what a farce that final was though because of the outside tyre rule
Really impressed with Somerfield tonight in the Supers, really impressive driving in his battles with McKay. Will be interested to see if Boulton keeps that feature win, Ngatai passed him, he lost it onto the grass and took Ngatai out re entering
Jayden Ward exceptional pace in the Superstocks
The Classic Streetstocks were nice to look at in the pits, but I wouldn’t lose any sleep if I didn’t see them out on the track again

Looking forward to next season. The superstock grade seems to be growing very well at the glen. Awesome to see.

Interesting post from Harley robb on Facebook, the 991c superstock went to it new home today, and he’s not sure what his future in superstocks is. Maybe it’s a cryptic post and he and 971c also have new cars coming.
Keeping in mind 991c and 1/2 of 971c(chassis I believe) was owned by ngatai, maybe ngatai selling up a few cars, he only has left the current 19c and his old 1nz which is 557c at moment.
Still think with above cars being sold locally to good drivers the class is still going to be strong, and with others moving from stockcars to supers also.

From superstocks 25C is being sold and 41C we may not see much of him anymore.15C and most likely 4C have/will be joining the ranks.I heard rumours 28S may be contracting to WFG next season though that's nothing more than a rumour at this point.
