Yep he won it in Rotorua with the pipe Gordge with Chris Allen as the owner. Chris had injured himself earlier in the season and called Craig in to pilot the thing.
Real fairytale partnership at the time. ;D

auto auto auto.
Craig won 1nz driving the 116r of CHris Allen.
THe pipe Gordge was built the next year to defend the title at Huntly.
Was sold to brendon Rowlands who blew up a few fords in it, then went to Barry P who put won of the early CSL toyota v8s in it, and won everything, and came 2nz.
Then down south of course, to Wayne Wilding, RIP and then to be teams raced by Jason then used as a garden ornament once the pipe decided that it would rather bend than stay straight.

Correct, and it is all up above in the Gordge thread along with all the photos and some other interesting comments that Mr Gordge made when he built it.

As mentioned on page 1, the 117A stockcar that Rose Halfpenny has driven now for quite a few seasons is a round tube chassis. Not sure of the full history, it must have been built in the late 90s, it was rebuilt around 2002 by Murray Bates and his then wife Annette drove it (slowly) for a season and a half, a short while later Rose was driving it. Now Rose has moved on to Midgets, anybody know where the car is now? It certainly proved it was a strong car with Rose getting lots of attention on track, and dishing plenty out. It also teams raced in her hands.

They sold the car to Noel Hawthorne.

Here is one from Nellie Irvine, an old Forest Lake car, possibly built in the late sixties, and maybe the first pipe chassis car. Nellie pit crewed on this car back in 1974 when he was a welding apprentice. the car was owned and raced by Ken Irwin
