Still researching and finding photos, I have made a small adjustment to my 1967- 1990 list and would be grateful to anyone who can help fill in the blanks. Here are a few photos of Auckland #14 stockcars to be going on with, more to be found. JohnAkld will no doubt confirm I have identified the Western Springs and Epsom cars correctly. The first #14 at practice before the first night of racing at Western Springs in 1955. Photo by Russell Luke from the Brown collection. 14 Reg Fearman 1955. 14 Phil Fry 1956, Epsom. (Photo also by Russell Luke) 14A Kevin Jamieson (Photo by Antzgofast) 14A Neil McCoard Tank 1998 14A Neil McCoard Concoard

The 2nd 14 is Phil Fry from the 1956/57 season, parked beside is Peter Wheaton's 82 that later became 83 raced by his brother Ritchie. Today Phil owns Commercial buses in Auckland and Reg Fearman has returned to England.

Thanks John, fixed it. Can you find a photo of Lawrie Brunt at Epsom, and did anybody else drive that same car as #14?

Hi John, which picture are you refering to with regard to Peter Wheaton, I use to know Peter very well who owned West Coast Motors in Glen Eden, also his brother Ritchie who owned I think it was the Fiat Centre also in GlenEden but lost contact some time ago now. Are they still still around, Peter was racing at Epsom when Des Mccullum was killed, it was one of the first meetings my late dad took me to in 1956/57 from memory, but then my memory is starting to fade, Cheers Roger. PS. And before you comment Porry, No I am not as old as you

Roger, It is the car behind the 14 Phil Fry car with Blackman painted on it. (Gee, are you allowed to say that today?). That car was later driven by Ritchie Wheaton when Peter built his new coupe and became a star driver. Peter was part of the NZ team to Australia in 1958. Des was killed in February 1959.
Gavin.

Thanks Gavin, 1959, like I said my memory is fading, yes I now remember Peter was nicknamed "Black Pete" on account of him always being covered in oil from being a mechanic, & a good one at that, especially on trucks. Are they still around.
Cheers Roger

Here are some more photos of Auckland #14 stockcars. First up, Laurie Brunt at Epsom 1958: (Programme Scan) I have found the negative scans for the following, so they are better quality than the original posting, plus a new one of the Phil Fry car. These are all Russell Luke photos from the Steven Brown collection. 14 Phil Fry Epsom. 14 Reg "Fearless" Fearman at Western Springs March 1955.

Hi Roger, There were three Wheaton brothers. Ron often drove the two truck at Epsom, passed away mid nineties, he owned the United Real Estate office in Blockhouse Bay, whoops might have been a Belton's. Peter moved to Perth around the late eighties early nineties and passed away around 2001? Ritchie was still living in the Bay of Islands when I last spoke to him but that was about 4 years ago. Sorry my dates aren't acurate.
Regards John
Pall Mall I will email you a couple of number fourteens as I can't get them at the small size.
