14a was Graeme Jackson in the mid 80's in probably one of the first spaceframes in Auckland. It's in a couple of the photos of the NZ's at Baypark thread, it was an early Kuriger with a white chassis, charade body and big wing, it was red, orange and yellow frosted.

Foreyes, will try and get some photo's to Ric this week. The first 14a I came across and was very close to purchasing was owned by Dave Henderson he owned Waikumete Motors in Glen Eden (opp the cemetery) so my first car could have been 14a. As turned out I purchased the 26a ex Pall Mall car and ran that number of 5 years. I then crewed for Ross Williets for 3 years during this time he drove the Graham Jackson 14a car(the photo on your web site is maybe myself or my brother Wayne standing next to the car). I then purchased the John Pribicevich 12a Cary Harris design Chev, in to my second season back I accepted an offer on this car that I could not turn down. Noel Phipps and I went to Tauranga and purchased the 96m car of Shane Anderson's Noel then wanted to use the 12a, we then went and purchased the Dutchie Chevette body car that he had run a Chev in and emptied his garage of ford 6 bit's but we were a little short so we then purchased the Noel Hawthorn ex Barry Hunter car that has had a lot of press here on MIA keep the engine etc and the rest off and needing a number I started my time using 14a winning best presented car and crew 1989/90 season. I think I have told the story what happened next.

No problem. Now if you want to go back to the very beginning, these are the drivers who ran #14 at Western Springs and the Epsom Showgrounds from 1955 to 1961. Photos can be found for some of them.
Western Springs: 1955 Reg Fearman. Mac McGhee 1956 Kel Redward. Stewie Armstong 1960 Bill Brennen. Les Redaway 1961 Frank Flavell
Epsom: 1956 Phil Fry 1958 Laurie Brunt 1958 Alan Naylor
Nobody ran as 14 at Gloucester Park, Auckland's other stockcar track from 1961 to 1964. Waikaraka opened in December 1967.
Now, to find some photos!

excuse my lack of knowledge,
you have for 1956 both western springs and epsom, were there two 14a's operating at different tracks at the same time, or is that a typo ?

Not a typo.
Stockcars in Auckland commenced in March 1955 with 5 stockcar only meetings at Western Springs after the conclusion of the normal speedway season. At the end of 1955 when no agreement could be reached with the Western Springs promoters about the stockcar class for the 55/56 season a group started another stockcar only track at the Epsom Showgrounds. (Now the ASB Auckland Showgrounds!). Western Springs eventually gave stockcars two races per meeting, so we had two tracks in Auckland running stockcars at the same time for a couple of seasons. One under ACU/Speedway Control Board (Now SNZ) at Western Springs and under SCODA at Epsom.
Will locate as many photos as I can, it may take a little while.
Gavin.
