We have named the South Island team for the Interislander But i cant remember who it all is but i will give it a nudge and Newally will kick my butt for getting it right or wrong. Cromwell Russell Erskine and Mark Vincent reserve Phil Burgess Dunedin Tony Williamson and Mark Newall reserve Gary Shaw?? ChCh Mark Grocott and Willy Woodhouse reserve Walter Whittlestone Blenheim Dave Mcallion and ?? reserve? Cromwell kicks off the four night series with a BBQ get together at the track on wednesday 19th from 5.30pm and hopefully a trip to queenstown on thurs morning for a boat trip (going of last trip it may not return so could possibly be for the north island team only ) Then its the start of the series in Sunny Cromwell on Thurs night then Moving on to Dunedin for Friday Nights racing followed by ChCh Saturday then Blenheim Sun.... Will keep you up to date as progress is Made for this. Special thanks to Steve Williams and his crew for organising this event again and to Sponsors. Top South Island car recieves an entry to the DHL Saloon series. Hopefully MR Guy will put the North Island Team on here as I cannot remember everyone, Those I can Recall are Steve Williams, Murray Guy, Phil Towgood, Mel Hills, Cheers Phil 95T Promoter / Selector

[glow=white,2,300] The North Island Interislander team ...[/glow] - will add a few photos as I find them! - [glow=red,2,300]Steve Williams[/glow] Resides Nth Auck occasionally, registered Huntly ...
This photo is the 'new look' super saloon, the saloon very similar.
- [glow=red,2,300]Phil Towgood[/glow] Resides Coromandel, registered Waikaraka ... NZ1 Saloon.
The classic example, DON'T JUDGE A BOOK BY IT'S COVER!!!! In a state of undress at Kihikihi track April 08.
- [glow=red,2,300]Brian Skelton[/glow] Resides Coromandel, registered Waikaraka.
Also undressed at Kihikihi, a view of Brian's rear which is all most of us see on the track ...
- [glow=red,2,300]Bryce Louden[/glow] Resides Thames, registered Huntly ... Ford
- [glow=red,2,300]Mel Hills[/glow] Resides Auckland, registered Rotorua ... driving the No.2 Caddy Shack saloon
- [glow=red,2,300]Nige Mouat[/glow] Resides Auckland, registered Huntly, Monaro ...
I'm concerned about Nige. He's recently had a knee replaced, with one to go. The BIG QUESTION I HAVE ... Are saloon drivers allowed aftermarket internal body componants? Will email Tim at SNZ to seek clarity.
- [glow=red,2,300]Paul Cressy[/glow] Resides Matamata, registered Baypark ... Monaro below, built by Paul.
First time to the South by Paul. Asked me last Sunday where to get money changed for the trip!
- [glow=red,2,300]Murray Guy[/glow] Resides Tauranga, registered Rotorua ...
As per last year, Monaro. Rebuilt engine by Brent Emerson.

Was 2nz unavalible for team Murray. No knowledge on that score bopwaikato. What I do know is that part of the criteria for inclusion is to provide for a variety of skill sets on and off the track. I have yet to be advised as to the 'skill set I offer'. I suspect my inclusion is about providing a bit of balance ... Phil, Steve (infact the rest of the team) at one end of the scale, and me at the other! At the least our southern friends will be assured of passing at least one northerner!

I hear that Scott Landsdowne has had to withdraw, replace by Nige Mouat. I'm sure Murray will have pics of his new set of wheels.............

Why, whats wrong with it Fastest way around the track....plenty of traction and easy passing. You should see some of the other tricks we have up our sleeves

Have heard about some funny practices from the mainland. Murray did say about different drivers having different skills and if this is what you do down south I'm definately going to have to come down to watch. Dave

Any north Island cars at the Glen on the 15th? Absolutely ... We're (the 13r troupe) catching the 2am ferry on Friday 14th November, spectate on the 14th and hopefully to race on the 15th. Heading out to OXFORD SPEEDWAY on Sunday 16th. Apparently B Grade racing we can't participate in, BUT they'll make something up (perhaps with the C Grade Saloons )? Also racing at the Glen on the 15th will be Steve Williams and Mel Hills ( Team Caddyshack Racing).

I'll have to join you there with the visitors as I managed to not qualify for the A-grade challenge either...

It's unlikely saloon competitors from the North would cross the water to the South to participate in support races. For one, the cost is significant, and with the NZ Saloon Champs in Huntly early December most will concentrate on saving their dollars, cars and getting track time in preparation. I'm not sure if it's the intention to include the series competitors in the support races ... if so, I'll be lining up. My only concern would be that maniac from Blenheim in a turboed toaster! Not long now ... this time next week we're on the road heading South.
