Was Pickens racing in this? My understanding was that he was in this event and racing for Lovelady?I am sure he was here at this event last season?

I'm sure the results will be on the website .... www.woodfordglen.co.nz/index.htm#But the result that counts is ... The most professional / skilful driving I think I've witnessed in the super saloon class where non-contact actually meant non-contact! Has to be an overall positive reflection on the refereeing. Hopefully the large crowd enjoyed the night as much as myself! Congratulations to all who participated in the Champion of Champions Event - most aptly named! Likewise to the club, Promoter Lewis Dawson and all who contribute!

Ritchie Taylor 58c 1st Greg Keegan 3nz 2nd Dean Waddell 81m 3rd
Josh Bulton finished 3rd in the race but was then disqualified. (pretty sure it was for contact but i'm sure someone will confirm)
Dean had it in the bag but a mistake pushed him up high and let 3 cars past him. Ritchie well deserved winner.

dean broke brake rotor, reason for his sudden dropping off pace... not sure if third place result has been sorted yet..... nice to see everyone one was on pace throughout weekend and all finished on the same lap...
good to see jason smith get rid of the gremlins in the electrics mark osborne back out on the track, modifieds getting good numbers and the weather behaving itself....

Ritchie Taylor 58c 1st Greg Keegan 3nz 2nd Dean Waddell 81m 3rd Josh Bulton finished 3rd in the race but was then disqualified. (pretty sure it was for contact but i'm sure someone will confirm) Dean had it in the bag but a mistake pushed him up high and let 3 cars past him. Ritchie well deserved winner. Ritchie was certainly on the pace from heat one, night one and a deserving winner. The same observation in my opinion applies to Dean, and of course the MASTER of CEREMONIES, my ever so skilful Greg Keegan and others. Last night the track struggled to maintain it's composure getting a trashing from the mods, saloons and Super Saloons. This resulted in a lot of driving to maintain position - keep it low, hard on the brakes and foot into it down the straight. Josh did make contact with the rear of a car entering turn 2, but from where I'm sitting it was a 50/50 call as the saloon rules prohibit blocking, shepherding, forcing another cat to take evasive action etc .. a racing incident, one of the very few incidents on a very tricky track shared by 20 or so super saloons! I personally struggled in heat one with the exit on turn 4, managing to hold of Steve Williams whose breath I could feel (and his bumper ) for the last few laps, to take out the win, starting off grid 1 with a field of 13 or 14. A few celebratory donuts had the refs seeking my presence ... Personally I think they were just after a can of GOFAST! Off grid 7 in heat two and managed to get up to 4th I think. A non contact race, tidy, Steve taking me in the last couple of laps. The final race had me off grid 12. A tip from John Lovelady had me put a bit more weight into the right rear and the car was awesome, with every lap putting me a bit closer to the leaders (about 4th or 5th) ... then NO DRIVE! Had to be a universal, gearbox - just rolled to a stop on the infield. A wiff of fuel had me sitting on the window ledge as a spectator. Inspection in the pits confirms the 'powerglide' is inoperative! Dave Walsh (smiler) of Kiapoi Car Clinic is on the case today. Most regretfully I miss an outing at Oxford today. These southern folk sure know how to promote a race meeting, sure turn on the hospitality ... excellent! Next stop, CROMWELL next Thursday!

Its shame that mechanical failure cost dean waddell the win..
according to the woodford glen site looks like josh boulton held the 3rd place
Anyone know what happen to Shane McIntrye 26M in the 25 lap feature? looking at the ELS he did one slow lap then went off..

IS this meeting being showed on CUE? IS the glen using TV this season to show any events? No, we didnt film this meeting for CUE, but Brian McFall was recording the meeting as usual, and I expect DVDs to be available from him soon. No decision has been made on whether any other events from the Glen will go out live on CUE this season. As in previous seasons its really dependent on attracting sponsors who want to support that.

Anyone know what happen to Shane McIntrye 26M in the 25 lap feature? looking at the ELS he did one slow lap then went off.. Not specifically, but he was having issues while forming up. Had the bonnet off by the pit gate, and didn't really get going when the green unfurled.

26m came out the gate and called for three minutes. the crew had the bonnet off and when the time was up he continued their was a bit of smoke coming from the rear of the car and then he retired with a puncture but im sure professor will correct me if im wrong as they also had to have words with him for removing his gear on the infield (helmet etc)

But surely he must have smelt fuel too? What a great couple of nights racing. A small pity the track turned very slick, esp for the 25 lap final. Sort of took away the spectacle fast super saloon racing can provide.Even if track was drivey longer,I don't think any cars would have been lapped. I also believe we three new drivers to supers at the glen can be very happy with our pace. Steve 28c Ben 16c and myself 64c have successfully made the transition from A Grades to supers. I personally like to thank Burse 21n and crew, namely Rex and Terry, hes THE man . Put a set up into my car that works bloody well. Soo very happy, thanks to you guys! I'm singing like one of those loud birds you hear pre dawn. Yes quite busy with Murrays car at the moment, have to find time to go over our tow vehicles, trailers and cars (of course), for the BIG interislander saloon series. Departing for Cromwell wednesday 1pm. Both my cars going very well, you beauty. ps. thanks Terry
