On saturday at Hawkes Bay in the final race in the Hermansen Motorsports ministock series Jamie Larsen had a huge roll. It was amazing to see him walk off with out a scratch and even better drive off pushing another car. This is a true testimate of our saftey gear and can leave drivers feeling unscaved and safe in there race cars.
If anyone has any pics or vids of this spectular 4 and and 1/2 roll shout out!!!
Anyone know how much damage was done?

Here Here, I did not see the roll however i did see the damage to the car and have heard how many times he went over, and seeing him walk away makes me fell a hell of a lot safer in a Larsen Racecar.. Not that a Ministock should need to be able to withstand being rolled, However Accidents do happen, And its very reassuring.

i was racing next to lars when he rolled, i looked over and saw his front bumper was almost on my bonnet, me and cam62p just missed him. very good to see him push another car off the track.

Sure.. Just like all Superstock, Stockcar, Sprintcar, Saloons, Super Saloon and Minisprint chassis are same?

what i was meaning is...all ministock chassis are the same plan right? obviously can be built by anyone BUT stockcars there are like rees, gordge, kuriger, vasey etc which are all alongthe same lines but are different in structure.... not too sure about sprinters etc but im sure that a halcrow built and designed saloon would be different than a lovelady slaoon you know?
so what i was meaning is, weather it was a larsen built or a "joe blogs" built, it will still be the same structure.

the roll cages are different for example box section used in stead of pipe and there are different strut top mounts too

I know what yous are saying but what i mean is the main structure of the car is based on the same plans right? strut mounts etc dont matter purely because thats not structure. im meaning chassie rails, where the roll cage attaches 2 the chassie rails and the plates etc on it....
its been ages since i was in a ministock so hey they could have changed but from what i remember they were all the same plans for a chassie

Ministocks are mainly made of the same general plan but there are obviusly differences, and the man difference between larsen cars and SOME others is the build quality! Some cars would not have handled that roll at all and the driver may have been injured.

Honestly if a car couldnt handle a roll like that it shouldnt be racing. I was suprised to see a bend in rollcage. I myself have and have seen other roll bigger and harder then that without a bend in the rollcage. but I guess its something they do to keep weight down

bends in roll cages do happen alot(not sure about the 82p ministock crash)but it does depend on how the hit the ground if the land square on to the top on the wing mounts then the cage does bend down.did anyone see two bums superstock in hawks bay about 3years ago? bent the roll cage alot!!
also our ministock landed on its wing mounts and bent the cage slighty.
we now put a bend in the mount so if it does land on its roof then the mount already has a week point in it and will bent insteed of your roll cage.

Yes most ministocks are the same, main differences are rollcages and suspension mounts as they are free design. also cars have 25mm tolerances so there is that is well. the cage is his car landed hard on the back corner, where the cross brace is, and till bent the cage forward, and "V-ed" the roof plate. he told me the whole structure moved left 70mm or something so it must have landed pretty hard!!
I was surprised to see only the cage and left front strut tower was bent as it landed on it. must be a well built car?

Definately one of the best built cars in the country! How do you determined that? Its not like Ministocks have to go through a crash test and each design is tested...
