Just got home from a great nights racing and hugely entertaining caravan race & Demolition Derby. I went without the greatest of expectations given past experiences on such nights. small numbers in the racing classes hurried through to get to the "crowd pleaser".  But not tonight: a huge crowd (I'd love to know the number if someone could post it) turned up and saw great racing from all 5 BP classes. 11 Supers turned up. I brought along a number of friends who have ever been before and they want to come back for more. So to the organisers, drivers, crew, Volunteers thanks for putting on a great show. Hopefully many of those who came tonight (whom have been absent for the other meets) will consider making it a more regular occurance. |

Mark Orchard 61m was dominant as ever. He started one race from the back and chased down Gary Edwards 6m who had 1/2 a lap on everyone else. It was a fantastic last lap n a half with Mark & Gary side by side and Mark coming home over the top of gary in the end for a close win. Russell Donovan 71m was his usual self (probably sad not to be down south) Gavin Dyer 88m had a very good night out. the only visitor was 88h. Unfortunately some of the adult paying kids who came with me and wanted to fill out the results in my program did not.  looking at it now they even wrote down Emmo as starting the first race!  Murray Beltz had the embrassing moment of having to be pushed off 3/4 of a lap by a tractor (you'll be happy to hear they don't take them across the infield and the grass still looks good) He was looking very good. Brett 1nz took out the feature but had to battle hard with Michelle 75m who started from the back. (I think she will improve on her 4th at the NZ next year). |

Agree with steeldog. Will post more in the morning. I left after the caravan derby to beat the 3 million people out of the car park.
The drivers might not like it but, by reverse gridding the feature races in the non contact classes the racing was nothing short of stunning. You had the feeling that it was going to turn pear shaped at any moment, but full credit to all drivers, other than the odd bingle there was nothing major.
Track was miles better aswell.
As for the crowd, thats what that stadium should look like. The atmosphere was great

Shay Oliver in the Sprintcars was doing exceptionally well, had the setup bang on tonight, had 2 2nd's  correct me if im wrong. Good to see Porky not being hammered again  also how did the guy in the derby make it onto the track with a t-shirt on looked like when he caught fire his skin melted a bit on his arms which was quite disturbing to watch being right in front, but then got up after being doused with water and gave the audience a wave and cheer anyone else see this ?? had some good fast racing in most classes which was good, saloons were putting on some good racing with Stick (Brent McClymont) working his way up the field nicely and also Paul Cressy and Terry Corrin too. |

Agreed steeldog.
I wasnt going to to go tonight, (seen a few demos so wasnt fussed) but changed my mind this arvo and was looking forward to the trailor raceing.
When I saw the the programme I thought it was a big call to have almost a full nights racing (only mini stock feature ommitted) and still get in the caravans and the mess they make plus the demmo.
But WK and his team of helpers pulled it off. Well done all!
The mini stocks were excelent and had most of the kids in the crowd wanting to have a go in one i'm sure.
The stocks hit when they could and played to the crowd well, especially in the feature. Well done and good fun to watch!
The saloons were awsome as usual. The crowd witnessed close tight racing from all but in particular 10m 1nz 3nz 45m 75m 69m 15m and 89m.
The Supers (about 11 turned out Murray) were super. Mark orchard magnificently winning the 2 heats off the back of the grid. Unlucky he couldnt get past enough cars in the feature.
Sprintcars were hard out. plenty of action to wow the crowd.
A dam good night and as much as I hate people, It was good to see and hear a house full. ;D

Oh and talk about the crowd, what nice atmosphere i even had a nice lady flash me her lady lumps from down bottom by flag marshal LOL, must of been my highlight lmao

Just want to say that I thought Karl Hanlon was going to win the the super feature in style tonight. I got a little excited, nervous but excited for him. I put my camera down 2 or 3 laps to go and was preparing to give him a standing ovation for his first? super feature win.... |

In the feature and bit of mud some how got stuck in the return spring on the accelerator and he had to pull out! |

Ouch not too good then and yeah your bro was going pretty good for a 1st timer, unlucky for the mud on the accel though get well soon, gotta see you back in action |
