No mention of Garry Parkes?
Kevin Free,Dutchy,Hobbs,Urlich,Simpson(s),Pierce. the list goes on
Next, most deserving NZ is Stan Hickey be great to see 1 on his car,sat beside his wife and crew at Stratford champs a few years ago, most sporting crew out,he was up on points, taken out and they all said nuts thats racing, maybe more in pits, but in front of the crowd they were ultimate professionals.

Dave Evans, no question...................2 x 1NZ, 1 x 2NZ, 1 x World 240, 1 NI, 1 Grandprix, not sure how many Teams titles, and like another top driver from that era told me not long ago "when you were on the track with the General, you always had one eye on your mirrors"
Possibly influenced the outcome of more titles than any other driver e.g running in front of a brakeless Bryce Penn in the 88? NZ's at Meanne and clearring the way for him lap after lap, absolutely clearing the track for Parksey to win his second 1NZ. A huge hitter, like the time in 87? when he tore into the wildcats and cleared them of the track and I forget what year it was when he single handedly destroyed the Warriors and gave his team mates an armchair ride................................also the hit on Dr John in the end of year Teams race against the Scrappers, when he tore the carb clean of Mercers car would be the most committed hit I have ever seen...............you saw it comming from a lap away and you just knew what what gonna happen

I have only been following speedway for six years but would have to rate Wayne Hemi Peter Rees Peter Bengston and Jared Wade as some of the better drivers i have seen in this time.Plus Barry Podjursky in team racing.
