Therefore it will be a slick track specialist that will win it, or it will go the way of the grid draw. Someone that can get the rear, middle and front marble. Make the passes whilst there is grip in the track early, pass again early laps of heat two and then hold on to a front row spot for the 3rd heat. That will secure a good start position for the final where the track will be slick and passing very hard. I thort you new more about raceing than that sonic 33 . it all about money , i mean hourse power . i mrean driveing skills , or maybe it might be the money its not about smelling the roses , at least i know that much ;D

also maybe we could lock this thread and stick to just the one thread on this championship now ;D ;D ...Personally, I would like to see a thread SOLELY for the results... with NO discussion on it ...And another for DISCUSSION ONLY That way the true interested viewers dont have to put up with drivel when wanting results Cheers Wiseowl

I bit early to start giving out results yet Wiseowl but I can give it a go............. Heat 1 Blue Group; 21h, 1nz, 48h Heat 2 Green Group; 8h, 58c, 11m Heat 3 Red Group; 7m, 121n, 38h Maybe if somebody can start a separate results thread tonight it'd be appreciated by all. If I start one now it'll be on page 41 before racing even starts, so I'll leave it to somebody stuck at home with time on their hands. With Huntly, Palmerston North and Woodford Glen scheduled to race tonight 3 individual results threads are what is needed. This could be a job for macgor.....unless he weakens at the last moment and decides to make his weekend speedway fix a 2 night one?

I know what you are saying chainsaw, but even with money you still need to make some passes, and they will need to be made earlier in the night.
Time will tell.

I know racers who are happy with rear draws in the early heats because the track allows passing and passing = points. Later on although there may be a few cars missing from the grid it's much harder to make gains on a slicked track .

I know many racers who prefer a rear draw in Heat 1, even allowing for the fact their are generally vacant grids come Heat 3. It's a little more than straight maths.......

Maybe not straight maths but it all helps. One less car to pass sure makes life easier. Blondie always used to say grid four was the prime starting position but then he could pass all night long on pretty much any track surface

Yeah, don't think grids worried Blondie too much ;D
Probably the grid where you don't get taken out is the best

Over recent times the race surface for heat one has often been inconsistant across and around the track. Invariably the race is begun with little regard for the inevitable carnage produced by a greasy pole line and drivey outer. Couple this with the fact that many drivers don't engage the brain until after the first / second lap mayhem, to be at the very rear often has significant advantages.
Will be interesting to see how Huntly manage the track prep immediately prior to racing. Usually the saloons are used (abused) to carry out this task then expected to race 15 minutes later.

Does any one know where I can get the grid draws to see if there is any passing going on and whether the passing decreases as the night goes on and moisture disapears.
