I also believe that live streaming is lowering numbers. We had this discussion with a group a couple of weeks ago..that groups of friends or sports clubs etc can book these speedway events for $25 or so and a big group can put on the big screen in the comfort of there own homes and save alot of $ no travel, motels expensive food & drinks etc. I hope it doesnt start to ruin these events. The promotion will have to stop live streaming if things got to bad. My opinion tho you cant beat being there live. Live streams are a great thing for the sport but being there is where the magics at. In fact, I think if we invite 'non speedway' people over for a beer, nibbles and a good stockcar meet on the big screen it may even create another fan or two

Busterbell is correct, the place does not pack out the way it used to. And yes, I have been going to the event since the early nineties. Have people ever thought that it may not be the price that is deterring people? but the drunken behaviour of some people that put people off going? Being honest here but have been for the last 7 years and have indulged in a few beverages and have never been complained about, to my knowledge. This drunken people is the minority ruining for the majority. And just so I'm not hiding. People may remember a group of us in the pink in the grandstand each year

I have been a regular at teams for the past few years, and even relocated my normal seating one year because of the drunks that werent even watching the racing

Still won't have anywhere the same attendance, the only reason the NZGP meeting seems to be on this weekend is to try & boost crowd numbers with speedway patrons, would be surprised if the crowd numbers at Manfield broke 10,000 as most road race meetings the fans are outnumbered by the drivers & crews

Would be good to see Palmy drop the gate price and substitute that cost by putting up the price of alcohol, this may help it get back to the sell out days it once was. People should be going to Speedway to watch the racing and not to get drunk, and before you all say the promoter has no say or makes no $$ out of what gets sold at the arena I think you need to understand the Promoter isn’t a silly businessmen is he. Also if you wanted to hire out the venue and decided to hold a major children’s sporting event there I don’t think you would have to except the sale of alcohol their would you.

My god I cannot believe some statements that some people are actually making!!! We are living in the real world with real people, alcohol is sold at your local bloody dairy where ya kids buy ya lollies and ice blocks. If you have a prob with an intoxicated person grow some nuts yourself and let them know, if you haven't got any nuts then go and see security and bleet to them to do something. Other than that just stay home and watch it on tv or PC with your popcorn. The promoters do a great job and yeah they make some coin and good on them for that. I for one will be in the stand, I will be drinking , I will be having a bloody good time with a lot of others. Amen!!!!!
