Update: 137 entries and 7 prequalified. Congratulations to the Rotorua Club. From their facebook: "The RSCC regrets to advise the Steer Builders Ltd Ministock Invitation has been postponed until a later date due to the overwhelming response to this years 240s, resulting in having to run 6 groups on qualifying night" Hard luck for the ministocks however I'm sure they are gracious enough to accept the deal. Well done Sam and Sonja!

Well done Sam and Sonja! Most other tracks would run a full field of cars and have 5 groups

Gee grindingdisc you're the eternal optimist! Would you rather there be ministocks on the programme? What's your point?

Gee grindingdisc you're the eternal optimist! Would you rather there be ministocks on the programme? What's your point? Would rather see a full field of quality racing 5 groups Instead of adding another qualifying group to the format its already drawn out enough with the extra pre qualifyer races ect and already hard enough to qualify As far as ministocks go i would rather not, but I would much rather see the Ladies Stockcar Championship opened up and run 2 groups of qualifying as theres a big waiting list and enough drivers out there and race for a proper 3 race championship and not drawn out over 6 races

The current entry of 137 cars over five groups of 27-28 per heat, more if the entry grows further. Over six groups it's 22-23 cars per group, based on the current entry. Personally I always like the qualifying heats to have a few less cars per heat, which helps make the finals field look even more impressive. Personal choice obviously. Barry B

Barry B With entrys having already closed on the 1st of January i dont think the list will be getting any bigger. NZ Champs will take a few out aswell be it engine / car trouble or over agressive contact ect, so if it stays 6 groups i suspect it could drop to about 20 cars on track for the first race and possibly about 15 by the time they roll out of the gate for heat 3 Guess we will wait and see

Barry B Well to be honest i feel that ive probaly got another 30 years of racing left in me but i think i could probaly slow down and juggle both towards the end so we shall see, be sure to tune in via your resthome

I've made no secret that I believe in the less is more theory when it comes to speedway, but I think the line about most other clubs in the Rotorua announcement about the ministocks was petty, unnecessary and even a little unfortunate.

I'll be lucky if I'm still here this time next year. I was hoping you might step in somewhere before the start of the 24/25 season, but 30 years? Nobody will even remember me in another 30 years, and that's if the world hasn't imploded by then Barry B

Rammyjammy - I've edited my post! Point taken - it was an unnecessary assumption!

If so I really hope you enjoy it. Not that I can go to either event but it's a shame it clashes with NZ Streetstocks at welly, which has also got awesome meeting written all over it.

Yep. Travelled up from Chch and staying at Taupo at mo on holiday. Heading to Napier tomorrow for NZs. Picking up Mordecai from Hastings who needs a ride, so looking forward to meet greet a famous Macgorian! Head to Rotorua for 240's. Catch up with Ngahi Bidois and the Hunters etc. I might coerce Ngahi to make a guest appearance on Macgors when he's free! He was a regular on this forum a while back. All the best on NZ Streetys!!
