Well no good looking at the darn interpretation bottom line is it has to be inside the roll cage including the two rear drop bars and ALSO have a rear bar around the middle of the back of the tank. No, This has been looked at and discussed by one Tank builder and SNZ directors and the above rule and its interpretation has been deemed as sufficent to protect the fuel tank in a tank type vehicle. unfortunately what we have is different vehicle checkers at different tracks have different interpretations. I have already encouted this with my old car

By putting in more steel in the cars are SNZ going to change the max weight limit or do the drivers have to find some way to lose weight some where Else on the cars?. I understand ( if I'm correct ) that speedway nz are looking at raising the min weight but not the max weight so if the car ends up over weight I'll have to loose it some where else

Your not wrong there, it's just best to have it in place and avoid the hassles so you can enjoy your night. With all the talk of exemptions last season and the Tank being brought into the Spot light regarding legality it's a sure thing they will be given a good once over next season. More Pictures Please

I have to agree with you beatle, the Imp body looks better( but the Y was what I had in the workshop), certainly not a 105h style. thats not for me. I would rather any extra weight went into the chassis not the body.

If I had the time and money I would take a latemodel falcon ute cab. That would look pretty sweet on a Tank IMHO

Rule T12-1-6 (j) If the fuel tank is mounted at the rear of the vehicle, there must be an additional roll cage brace, at tank level between the two rear facing braces. Rule T8-5-3 Fuel and fuel tanks Superstock and Stockcars, the fuel tank confined towards the rear of the rollcage, or under the floor, the tank must be protected from impact-damage by the chassis and or roll cage. On the website www.dert14n.com in the photo gallery, pic 25/27 is a pic of a car with a wee bit of a hole in the body. it shows the tank very clearly. to me it complies with rule T8-5-3 but not T12-1-6 (there must be an additional brace between the two rear facing braces) which rule do we have to complie with. one or the other or both. to me it looks ok , the extra brace wouldn't do much. (protect the filler maybe.) is the filler classed as part of the tank ? this car I guess has been to a few meetings recently at different tracks around the country. can somebody (scruitineer perhaps) tell me how these two rules are interpreted please.

With Farmboys Permission I will post a small one in here. I don't want to hijack this thread, I've been keeping the body style a secret but if I let the cat out of the bag now I guess it wont hurt. It's not your normal Imp tank set up! but who wants so be normal?
