I am not involved within the committee this year but feel I have a right to defend the club in this instance.
First off, by their own admission, Kihikihi Club and officials accept the track was in a poor state. They are not blind, they were aware of that fact , and will at least make every effort to rectify the situation.
The decision to do the track mid-season this year may well have been due to the fact they are hosting what is without a doubt the biggest championship meeting on the SNZ calender at the end of January 2010.
To ensure the track is right for this event I thinky ou will find that is why it was carried out in the timeframe it was.
I don't think you can use the fact that the new Kihikihi track wasn't up to scratch, as an excuse for any other track having a poor racing surface. A poor track is a poor track, whether you have a 20 million dollar facility or a club track.
As stated earlier, I am sure you will find the Kihikihi club doing everything in its power to ensure a better track surface for the next meeting. I was told by the club president that the track prep man had taken several days off work prior to this weekend to try and get it right. Sure, it wasn't right- but you can't ignore the fact that they are making an effort to improve things.
Time will tell.
And as a point of interest, please not that I had nothing negative to say about any other facility in the above statement in my defence of the little club that could.
Thanks- Rick Superstock 23K

"Just enforcing the rule book", I'm told BUT if they applied the same flawed logic to my tyres (and every other competitor, nobody would have raced ... Tyes to extend NO MORE than 175mm beyond body line (I think) Question is, which part of the original body line, or is it, any part (as applied to my mirror)? Funny you should bring that rule up murray, I was talking to an ex saloon driver on saturday night about the same rule. it reads.......Tyres may only extend 75mm outside guard flaring or 150mm outside normal body line....... And I'm sure there is a lot of cars which wouldn't pass if they got out a tape measure.
