Beatle, you're the man. You did the deed on the track, right or wrong, so be it. A lot of slanging on here and you answered that. The person a fault to me, is whoever wrote the article in the website, that was over the top.

A comment was made, more than once I might add by the commentary team, describing it as "despicable", that would of swayed a few peoples opinion of the incident and I thought that was out of line, It should of been left to the referee's to decide how bad it was after getting your version of events before anyone else in that position commented on it in that manner, it should of just been described as a questionable hit or something, not described as a despicable act. I can't help thinking it may of been a factor in the stone throwing incident. Mister Michael Mouse, I think the time has come when you should consider apologizing for the above allegations, or at least conceding you may have been wrong. Some years ago I was manhandled, basically assaulted, in the pits at a major championship meeting for something I said over the commentary. I really didn't feel what I'd said was that bad, but I did accept what was alleged was actually said, and by me. I can add myself and the driver in question are today good friends, but it was a little messy for a few days. I had to man up, and accept that I'd said something that had upset someone. In this case you have alleged the Welly commentary team said things, more than once, which may have lead to the "despicable" alleged act of stone throwing later, but this has been proven to not be the case. Maybe it's time you manned up and said something? Are you man or mouse? Or does your name give the game away.......

Maybe it's time you manned up and said something? Are you man or mouse? Or does your name give the game away....... Mister Barry Brown, I stand by everything I have said on here, and just because 3 out of the 4 person commentary team have come on here and denied my little allegation, that does not prove me wrong. As one of you said, it's not on the video, the video stops a few seconds after the hit, so what does that prove, only that it wasn't said during that period, but could of been said afterwards and even you said "but maybe more was said later". Pretty strong word despicable isn't it, when used in the right tone it could certainly stir some emotions in people. Very interesting to note that the person who wrote the review on the Welly website after all the dust had settled and all the fines had been handed out and all the explanations had been made, still chose to use that word when describing that incident, I wonder where he heard it from. Someone else on here suggested I might of been drinking "certain beverages", you met me early on Saturday night Mister Barry Brown, did me and my 7yr old son look like we were suffering from a hard night on the turps. No we had returned to see more stockcar not stone throwing action. I have considered apoligizing and withdrawing my allegation but the more I think about it the more I'm convinced I'm right, especially after someone else felt compelled to use the word as well. But like you say it's time to man up, prove whether I'm man or mouse. So if you can prove beyond all reasonable doubt that I'm wrong, I will be quite happy to apoligize. But I am in no way retracting my suggestion that what the commentators said regarding that incident had a direct impact on how certain members of the crowd perceived that incident and reacted to it.

Well now Mickey Mouse has had his right of reply, I think - especially as it's now the next racing weekend - that I agree with other posters and that it's time to put this issue to bed.
The justice system of New Zealand relies on the guilty being proven as such "beyond reasonable doubt". the burden of proof is on the prosecution. In this case MM has appointed himself judge, jury and executioner, stating "So if you can prove beyond all reasonable doubt that I'm wrong, I will be quite happy to apologize", but as that's obviously impossible we might as well quit boring people and give it up as a bad job. That is NOT an admission of guilt however, just that you are not prepared to accept the word of anybody otherwise, and would probably suggest a full recording of the meeting had been 'doctored'.
With regards to when and where the website writer that night heard the phrase, I have spoken to the scribe in question and they tell me they were so busy jumping up and down and foaming at the mouth, they certainly weren't listening to the commentary. Once again, I suggest it may have been you that read this word on the Welly website, and thought you'd heard it used.
Yes, I did meet MM earlier in the night, and can confirm he's a very pleasant and lucid chap, and most certainly had not been drinking. This was never a suggestion by myself earlier in the thread, and I'd suggest even the person that wrote it meant it as a more general comment that some people convince themselves they hear certain things as certain times, than a pot shot at MM.
So in summation;
Did we, the commentary team use the word "despicable?" - no we didn't
Can we prove that to MM's satisfaction, since he is not prepared to accept the word of 3 of the 4 commentators? - no, we can't
Can he prove that we did use the word "despicable?" - no, he can't
Should the Welly website have used the word "despicable", as opposed to possibly "dubious?" - no, it shouldn't
Is this thread over and done with, and now locked? - yes, it is
