Hi, residual pressure valves keep a certain amount of pressure in the brake lines. it stops the the pads/shoes from moving too far away from the disc/drum. generally discs are 2lb and drums 10lb. some are built into the master cylinder and some are in the brake lines. falcon ones for example are in the line, they are about 1.5" long and about 5/8" hex with the brake line going into each end. without them the pads/shoes can move far enough away from the disc/drum that the pedal will not have enough travel. although thats not likley in a stockcar (as opposed to a road car) where the brakes are used quite often. also if the front and rear brakes and master cylinder are not from the same doner vehicle there is a good chance the front/rear pressure is mismatched leading to only the front or rear (not both) axle having effective braking. so for SAFETY reasons a brake proportioning valve (only one master cylinder needed) should be fitted. most hot rods have them if they have brakes from different doner vehicles. but I see the rules dont allow one. thats stupid when it stops cars having good/effective brakes. hope that is of some help and not too much of a rant. good looking workmanship on the fuel tank and cage in that pic. cheers and good luck with your new car. Cliff.

Thanks for the latest update.
Whats been the catalyst for the improved results and speed?
just seeing someone else jump in and give it stick? It sounds like you've turned the corner, and its starting to hook up, which is great to see.
And any other pictures of the car without the body on will be great - be good to see it again after its been raced in anger

And any other pictures of the car without the body on will be great - be good to see it again after its been raced in anger We have been working really hard on trying to get this car up to speed and there are several factors that I think have contributed to the improved results and speed, including getting the car to pull to the left instead of to the right when braking, greatly improved setup, the driver learning how to drive!! We also went to the dyno two meetings ago and gained a little bit which has no doubt helped a bit too. Just on that note I would like to thank everyone that has been so helpful. It is very much appreciated. Also, I couldn't let the crew that drove one race get the best result of the season ;D , I managed to equal that result on Saturday so that should save me getting some stick.

thanks for the awesome shots, and you'd have to be stoked with the way the front bumper has bent. weak enough to Keep the chassis rails straight. but strong enough to not hit and damage the front wheels or hubs and stubs.
thanks for those. And great to hear you equaled the results, good ot hear the consistancy is starting to come along.

And great to hear you equaled the results, good ot hear the consistancy is starting to come along. Happy as with the way the bumper bent. I had bent both bumper corners before. They both bent where the braces joined to the bumper. I put a new corner on the right front and put that plate over the top which has been quite effective so the new bumper will be made with the plate already in place, either on the top or between the two pieces of 4x2. The left one, well that happened at the next meeting after I fixed the right side so I just pushed that back out and welded a random piece of plate on top. Still done the job though and heaps of clearance even when they bend right around.

After much learning, I have finally managed to take some footage from the dvd camera, upload it to the pc, edit it (kind of), upload it to you tube and then link it to here! This is footage of 829s at the last meeting at Stratford, if everything has worked that is ;D

got any plans for the car during the offseason? Yip. New bumpers and side rails plus new outriggers on the right hand side as they all got pushed forward when the back bumper bent. New bonnet. I want to work on the brakes to try and get them better and sandblast and paint the chassis and she will be all done. I have to finish the trailer first though which should be in the next week or so.
