I see last week that Bernie placed a notice on this board that the WP committee had approved the running of the Teams meeting this year.
Thats great for all of us.
I also note that he called for interested teams to contact him.
Its now just over 6 weeks until this meeting, has anyone heard any more yet regarding teams coming or any other planning about this meeting.
With not being able to travel to Palmy this year I am looking forward to it and its always been a great earner for the club but cant help wonder if its being left a bit late to really promote or to excite teams into coming.

I heard the ASSCC was to have a representative at the World 240's to talk to the drivers present. Haven't heard how that went.....

Hi Grant & Barry,
Yes i was in Rotorua for the 240s finals, had a quick chat to someone from most teams we are hoping to get up. We have finalised travel and prize money now, and official letters will be going out Monday. With people fairly focused on the Palmy Teams first most are saying they are keen at this stage. I'd say the word is getting around now. We might even have a Team for Palmy.
Anyone wanting info can contact me (Dion) on 021 521 456 or dion@smashfest.co.nz. Also Bernie on 027 209 7725.
Bring it on.......

Thats good to hear Marty.
We are also looking at getting a 1 hour Doco Filmed of the event for TV3. Anyone interested in becoming a sponsor/character in the Doco we have guaranteed airtime. This includes any drivers who may want to promote their business/sport in this Doco can also contact me. We are filming a Doco of the NZ SUPER Mods and Dirt Cup for TV3 this weekend and next to air around March/April. (Thanks to Manurewa Recycling, CSL Container Sales and Leasing, Fastening Solutions, and Waikaraka Park Family Speedway)

glad to see the event is being returned to the speedway public! Dare I ask, someone was bound to, may as well be me.....will there be a change to the format of recent years gone by?Or is the event going to be run in similar fashion to previous years, which on the whole seemed udesireable to both the spectators and drivers?
Good luck, and cant wait to return to the park for what should be a cracker weekend!

having 18 thousand flyers on hand at palmy may help get auckland gate numbers up, dont know if you would have to hand em out incognito at palmy or if they would be happy to let you walk and do the drops openly, but this is where you know you can find a large number of teams racing fans,, a bit of paid advertising there may also help, back handers to the announcing crew....

.........or sending an actual team to race at Palmerston North would be a good start too. That is looking increasingly unlikely, and you'd have to think it'll difficult to entice a bunch of teams to Auckland if Auckland can't raise a side for Palmy. Let's hope I'm wrong on both counts........

the english team at auckland would be a huge boost, I spose theyre all home by then...
a promoters selection squad may be required... with no info on the website and not having been very often to the park over the this and last season its difficult to tell how many supers aucks have left

Or Do Waikaraka promotion own the rights to this?

If that correct and Auckland do not send a team to Palmy phew that's a tough one but appears to present a huge integrity problem - can they overcome it?

Curious, this is an event being put on by the promotions of a track, with no doubt prize money and travel money being put up for grabs. The option to race and prize money to cover costs is what will draw cars/teams. Any track could do such an event, good on WP for attempting to keep another big superstock event happening. Yes there is a shortage of cars at the track but thankfully there are people still trying to make things happen and work.
Instead of moaning constantly, this is positive for those people who want to race and those who like to watch.
