Aaron you think I should stick to reviews huh? Many people would argue I'm not so crash hot at that either!
Obviously I'm not privy to all the costs of this event so my analysis isn't accurate. What my analysis did show is that you don't need 10,000 fans to get a decent gate. As for a bigger stadium there isn't much point when you aren't filling the current stadium.
Whilst fans will pay a premium the amounts suggested by Jamo are a bit too high. You can see it in the responses of what people want. It's the classic "yeah I'd pay but I want to see more". Mentioning a big screen, bringing in commentators, 50 stockcars etc it all costs money which in turn means the entrance fee would have to be higher again.
The other question to consider is does this meeting need to run at a profit. Why not use the proceeds from a demolition derby or fireworks special to help prop up this event.
I say that because for me personally my first ever night at Waikaraka Park was the second night of a superstock teams event. Since then I've probably been an average of 5 times a season every season and have dragged family and even some friends (I do have a couple of friends folks) through with me. So although my entry to that meeting was only $20 my attendance at that meeting has been worth probably $300 each and every season since.
It's a great meeting to attract new fans.

Great to see Percy being honest lol 13th team was another overseas team from somewhere in Europe(not Britain) hopefully next season Auckland is a special teams event where the action is usually aplenty format has been weird but looks as if they are rectifying that this march

marty are you suggesting that the dutch are going to send a team to the teams champs. Ha, they are far too PC for contact, they would do better to find five or six guys from dutch families in NZ to race for Oranje. How the hell do they race with clogs on thier feet?? Hup Holland hUP, Oranje Boven and all of that.
I sent my mums brother an email asking if they coming over for the teams, both sides of the family are quite united in this response....

Your saying that the stadium won't be full!, so why put up gate costs, if you put on the big show more people will come. If it's half fill at @1000x$20=$20000. Put on the big show and full the whole thing up @2000x $20=$40000 theres ya money to pay the expenses(note only using the figures as example I'm not sure on WP capacity). Only when you have a full crowd could you start thinking about putting the gate fee up for big events, otherwise people won't come because it's to expensive in the first place. If you struggle to pull big crowds for teams racing with a low gate fee then I think there is something broken in the organization/promotion.

If you struggle to pull big crowds for teams racing with a low gate fee then I think there is something broken in the organization/promotion. One of the more laughable posts I've seen in awhile. Gate price is about maximising revenue while putting on a show that justifies the price. Just because you aren't filling the joint doesn't mean you lower the price. You could charge $5 and potentially still not fill the place. Halving the gate price would unlikely result in double the fans. And we do have a few Superstocks in Auckland so I would think our team will be a full Superstock lineup.
