Letters have gone out to 8 teams (including Nelson and the Panthers), most teams spoken to directly as well - hopefully this all comes together.

In the interest of the club financially it would be better if this meeting did not go ahead with a fence to pay for over the off season its just to much of a risk and that goes for smashfest as well

I agree if this is no going to go ahead Rotorua should take the bull by the horns and make this another huge annual event for them. The club did such a good job with N.Zs and always do with 240s im sure they could turn this in to a huge success. I dont believe the problem would be getting the crowd there we would all travel nearly anywhere to watch Teams racing its more so weather they can sort the teams etc in time? How bout running it later in the season or turning the Hickey contractors easter weekend into the Hickey contractors Teams Nationals ;D im keen for that...just a thort??

You guys do not seem to listen very well!! THERE IS NOTHING STOPPING ROTORUA OR ANYONE ELSE RUNNING THEIR OWN TEAMS EVENT NOW REGARDLESS OF WHAT AUCKLAND DOES.Why you keep harping on about "bringing the event to Rotorua" I have no idea. If you want a teams event in Rotorua contact Sonja or someone at the club and talk to them about it. It is a completely different topic to this one about Auckland's team nationals. The two are not related!! Got it now? ??

I would say that it would be an awesome event if it was run out of Rotorua . But in saying that Sonya and the Rotorua Stockcar Club have had a huge workload with hosting the NZ Superstocks and World 240,s . And maybe they would not be keen on standing on anyones toes .
But if there is a chance that Auckland can not run this meeting once again , maybe they should make the call sooner than later . Giving other tracks the chance to organise it .
If Auckland can it again this year at the last minute , they will surely cop the flack. And the interest for teams to head there in the future will dwindle .

There are only so many Teams Events drivers can afford to attend in a year .
My guess is that if one of the central North Island tracks did take the bull by the horns and organise such an event . The chance of getting anyone to support Auckland Teams in the future would be slim .
If its on its on but if its not , at least have the decency to give plenty of notice .

well it seems auckland are working to make it happen and if we want to see it perhaps encouragement would be the better game plan for now.

I reckon Auckland should use that website of theres and have a page dedicated to the teams nats, updates, have it official and lets see it through from concept to incept, in fact a sub board of the teams thru the years would give every one a reason to look at the site, so any news, latest update? gotta keep a flow of info going here guys or the nay sayers and doom merchants and a few vegas supporters will take over the assylum.....

There may be a difference in repair bills , between a 20/30k stockcar to a 60/100k superstock one would think . Correct me if im wrong . Wouldnt take long to blow the budget ..

Short update. All teams spoken to, emailed and either have a letter or will tomorrow. 2 teams confirmed, 3 prob 90% based on conversation, other 3 im not really sure. Will have a much better idea Monday night. Good idea about a page on the website, or even a whole site just for the Teams Nats.
Dion
p.s why should the club not run either the teams nats or smashfest, you prob need more info to make that decision.

Thanks for that Dion-all it takes is a little info and regular updates to fans/supporters to keep the ball rolling. I thort they had dropped the ball and it was going to be another non event like last year thats why i posted saying it would be great if a club like Vegas picked it up. Didnt mean ta upset ya Jamo

No problemo 4zfed, Was doin the last post from my phone. Come Tuesday i hope to be able to tell you that we are 50%+ to having the teams confirmed. Not too bothered about drivers in the teams at this stage, that will come in time. Lots of work and decisions to be made by the teams.
There's alot of work going on behind the scenes for this event in all areas. An update on Tuesaday will hopefully include gate prices, confirmed teams to date, support classes for both nights and details of a few quiets around the old 40g drum in the pits on the Saturday night. Better stack the bar.
