I remember Tony Mac at Woodfood glen in the final lap of the 3rd Heat NZ Champs, he was put in the wall, stalled, tried to restart, flames beltched out ala Peter last nite, Red Lights, and Tony allowed to carry on, restarts car and with the help of other competitors crosses the line and became either 2 or 3 NZ. So its not the 1st time that a similar event has occurred.

I'm not sure why FWJ came infield after rolling Rees either. He wasn't happy but I'm not sure if it was with himself or others? Was he damaged and pulled off? Or was he sent off? Turning point of the race anyway...... Pretty sure he said in the interview that his car died. But the only way he caught Rees was by using the wall to his advantage the two corners prior. Of course no one has mentioned this point yet

No, not that i recall, but in regards to last night, I think the Fire Marshall over reacted and that the flames from Peters car would have gone out by themselves once Peter restarted. It was a 50/50 call from the Marshal who was concerned about the drivers welfare. Did what the marshal do assist Peter to restart in the race, or would the fire (It was only fuel in the Exhaust) have been put out by Peter restarting the car. We will never know for sure as the Firemarshal was very quick off the mark and never gave Peter enough time to restart.

I think to if you watch that video you can see scotty riding the wall and getting MASSIVE speed down the straights where the guys who were chasing him couldnt keep up.
I know it was wet and a bit of give and take is good but he was the leader and got an advantage from it. Again (yes again) just like the tigers cutting the pole line, they infringed a rule and gained advantage, scotty infringed a rule and gained advantage which ended in him winning the race.
Consistency from the refs please. It really is getting ridiculous. Its no good blaming the drivers because I can only imagine in the heat of a teams race they would just want to finish.

It's his expertise that has to be relied upon. I'm not that concerned about this event but I'm certainly concerned for future events.

The foul-mouthed abuse i witnessed in the pits last night towards the PN drivers was unacceptable and just made me continue to realise why our great sport has the poor reputation amongst others, outside Speedway
Better still....go watch another sport and let the rest of us enjoy the BEST SPORT IN THE LAND !!!
Cheers WISEOWL[/quote] That exact thing was mentioned in the program by the Joblins father Russell, wonder how many of these people remember doing it when they sober up?

I do not have a problem with Pete waiting to be told he was excluded, however if he did undo his belts as previously stated that tells me that he thought the fire something other than exhaust flash, and also, there is no driver out there that is not aware of the rule that once the belts are undone your race is over. He should not have re-started if he took them off.

Watch it again when you get a chance, Rees is being ultra-careful not to use the wall, knowing that officials eyes are on him as the leader. If they were both using the wall as a slingshot, he wouldn't have caught him. Only one was, and the roll was the outcome. I guess Frankie doesnt know the nuances of our rules, although Scott Miers should

Anyone abusing drivers should be driven from the sport.

All in all a really good first night...race of the night for me was the B vs GB. Some massive hits.... Re the last race, the fireman did what he is there for. If he had let it go and it turned into something bigger then everyone would be on here getting at him. 50/50 call and I think he made right decision. I really think that Rees should have been taken off because of the wheel guard, as in any normal race at a normal meeting, cars get taken off for having a wheel guard that is not secured where it should be. Roll on tonight, Consistency is all we ask for !!

Do we know for sure that Peter undid his belts, if so I agree he should have been off, but no one has confirmed that he did, I don't think he did, but am ready to hear from any one who can confirm this. Re Exhaust fires, I consider myself to be pretty experienced with them, having been in official positions, stationed on that corner dealing with things like exhaust fires, rollovers, roll cage checking etc for 20 odd years up to 2 seasons ago.

For all of you that love this conspiracy nonsense, in 1997 Scott Miers was trailered for finals night after doing a hit in qualifying exactly the same as Dale Ewers did last.
By the same referee too. Does that mean Dale is gone for tonight?

DANNY WAINMAN HUGE HIT ON REES AND PUTS HIM UP AND OVER REES ON HIS WHEELS THEN A PRETTY BALL OF FIRE! Its put out but now hes gonna keep going? Isnt that against rules as hes had outside help. Wainman now off. So you get a kick out of seeing a car on fire with the driver in it? Pretty big of you.

The officials are SNZ appointed and neutral, Ref is from Rotorua and Stipe Steward from Wellington. On thing im sick of is seeing Scott Mires using the wall to gain an adavantage... Just runs around the outsideall the time. The rules of racing clearly state that this is a no no. How about commenting how Wainman used the wall to his advantage to hit Rees? Or you didn't see that with your blinkers on?

I agree that the decision made was not Rees' fault, but when you sit and watch year in year out this awesome racing sport and see the same things happening within the racing of the Pamly track, and the blindness of the officials it can be rather frustrating not only for the drivers competing but the crowd, we pay good money to come from all over to watch a great sport and to have these types of things happening time after time just so they can get there team into the finals well it does look bad.. it doesn't happen just with the Supers it happens with the stock cars also, BLINDNESS on the officials side is the problem, they don't want to know about it unless its some other team.. lets hope that the rule applies to all...

Mires and Rees should get DQ'd.. Mires for wall riding last corner to get away from blocker, and Rees for getting infield help when his car went up in flames So no infringing from any GB cars then in that race aye?
