I don't know the ANSWERS . We will let you know the answers after our next committee meet . The more groups you have the more car laps on the track -starting ,finishing ,.Also the less support classes to help maintain the track ie narrow tyres for scuffing the top and letting some water back in .For 20 car final, 5 groups would mean either 4 from each group and no repercharge or only 3 from each group and 5 from 2 repercharges ?? .Or 3 groups allowing for a couple of no shows which has been the case every title , 6 from each group , 2 winners from repercharges .Or 4 groups 4 from each group 4 from 2 repecharges . I promise we won't be able to please everyone ,But we will try . I am not sure how many cars actually turned up to race at the Bay Park NZ's but I think 64 entered ?? . Lap scoring sheets would tell you how many hit the track . Cheers 77k

Also the less support classes to help maintain the track ie narrow tyres for scuffing the top and letting some water back in. Speaking of which is there any chance of moving the Sprintcar Invitation to another date? They are great to watch, but would prefer to see two narrow wheeled classes as the support programme to give the track a chance to recover. I vote for something like the following........ Friday - Saloons x4 (Allowing for no shows will probably mean 14 per group) - KC Superstocks - Ministocks or Productions Saturday - Saloons x3 - Stockcars - Streetstocks - Minisprints or Midgets Anyway going to be a great meeting whatever is decided.

What is the First Fifteen Challenge on qualifying night?
124m Dan Corrin is in good form leading up to the title. Second in the DHL Interislander Saloon Speedweek, third in the New Zealand Grand Prix, and currently fifth in the La-Z-Boy series.

Well Rossco, what did i tell you back on the 23rd Jan,there was no need for you to panic with only 10 cars entered at the time, and now look what you have 61 cars. Bloody great effort from all drivers concerned. With the feilds you have,( and take out a couple of no shows) probably the fairest way to group them will be 3 groups of around 20 cars, 6 from each group go through, and one repercharge RUN ON THE SAME NIGHT, with the two top cars going into the finals. Its no good running the repercharge the next night,( we did this at the nz Super Saloons at the old Bay Park track and it didnt work, cause it was one more race on finals night and the track went off before the last saloon race, and lets face it you need to have the best possible racing track for finals night) and all those cars running in the repercharge will be disadvantaged cause they have to run a extra race on finals night where the other top qualifiers dont, and this way eveybody in the finals are all on a level playing feild, and the drivers know then weither they are in the finals or not. The club can then promote the top 20 cars to the paying public at the start of finals night. Now i can hear you saying this old bugger dont know what hes talking about with only 3 groups with this amount of cars? Ive been around speedway a long time and ive raced in alot of cahmpionships, and when you have to qualify with only the top 3 or 4 cars from each group going through, there is so much more carnage, as everyone is trying so hard to make the first corner, and to get up to the top four in the quickest way they can.At least with the top 6 going through you dont have to push your car quite so hard. With this format, you have to race with 20 cars in the finals so qualifying should be no different. lets face it, this way you can still have all the other classes raceing and it doesnt get qiute so boring for the paying public who havnt come to watch just the Saloons, and it also gets the saloon guys time to do repairs and set ups alike. What a great spectacle this NZ Saloon Champs are going to be in 3 weeks time. All the best to everyone who has entered, and im still staying with my top three, Brent McLymont 1nz,( cause hes never been out of the top two since it started in 2007, and he knows how to handle the pressure of championship racing) Nigel Ross 2nz, and Daniel Corrin 3nz. These are just my thorts. Doug Walsh

The "Clash of the XV's " is a competition between the 1st XV's from Te Awamutu , Cambridge and Otorohanga . We have got some interesting challenges for them to carry out . And this should be very entertaining also it will give the track crew a bit of time to make sure the track is in primo condition for both nights . See ya there .Cheers 77k

So, with a 6pm start time both evenings, is there temporary lighting being brought in as per the NZ Superstocks? Or are we being hopeful of two nights of bright sunshine, no clouds to block said sun, and 61 Saloon drivers being well behaved and not causing any undue delays? Just asking, because I'd have thought with lights you wouldn't start the racing til later to make the most of them, but without lights you'd need to be starting the racing before 6pm?? It's shaping up to be a great meeting. Looking forward to sitting on the bank and watching it unfold.......

Barry,
as required under SPANZ rules for NZ championship hosting conditions, we will be having lighting similar to that seen at the superstock event. The earlier start time for the Friday is not ideal for some, but it is the most practical solution for the club.
The intention is to have things wrapped up nice and early so that we don't upset our neighbours and run foul our operating consent restrictions.
At the end of the day, I will be disturbed if this event runs anywhere near aslong as the superstock GP in Waikaraka, so lets cross everything for some nice fine weather please.

Thanks very much Rick.......you do realise there may have been some confusion with the Superstock GP, in that on it's original (and rained out) date it WAS a two day meeting. Maybe somebody didn't realise the re-scheduled date wasn't supposed to be
