I will have a guess/punt n say the following have a really good chance of showing. A, M, B, R, P, P, W, N, C. 9.... go 3 groups of 3 and winners and best placed 2nd team go to semis. UK, S and V not make it from Palmy.

True true. TYPO error. at least won't have to wait until a week before to be given a spot this time huh. UK no and S and V be the biggest strugglers not to get own sides at a guess
High chance of 10 teams

If 'it's a picking contest, I'll go for 6.........but 6 really good ones. Barry B At 6 does it really need to be two nights? For 6 teams over 2 nights in all honesty you may as well make it 1 group who races every other team once then have a 5th/6 & a 3rd/4th match before a final. Doing it that way each team would race 3 times each night but it would give spectators a reason to pay top $ at the gate each night rather than two average nights racing. The above only applies if it is indeed 6 teams, and for that they would NEED to be good teams although I can only think of 5 of the top of my head, I suppose you could invite the Panthers to make up the numbers as the 6 th team.

I can see 2 teams out to make up for their poor showings in Palmy same as 1 of them had to last year

could well be right with smaller numbers due to travel and win money being lower, making it a hard ask for some teams to travel and commit. at least 8 for the spectators and events benefit would be good

Commentators at Woodford glen last night said that the promoter hasn't decided between 6-8 teams, will most likely be 6 with the reduced seating, and the Eagles want to go but have been placed on the reserve list

Reserve because promotions only want 6 teams, don't want repeat of palmy orrrr another reason might be don't want to pay out to too many teams, partic with less bums on seats and ticket sales compared to palmy etc. why wouldn't you want as many teams as possible to try and grow the event and make it something bigger and better in the future.

Costs versus return. Each team costs money to attract to Auckland, and WP has limits currently on how many bums it can put on seats. It doesn't make good business sense to spend twice as much on getting 8 or more teams to the track than what you can get returned to you in gate sales, even two sell outs. I think it has to be accepted that any re-growth of the Teams Nationals is still another 12 months away. Six ultra competitive teams will still makes it a great meeting however.

Sick of all the whining.
The park is a sweet place to watch or race.
I am curious though, does anyone know roughly how many people we can actually let through the gates vs how many a couple years ago before the grandstand bs?
Regardless of these issues I'll bet anything that the meeting will be a success...

Up top of the Waikaraka main stand is the best viewing location in New Zealand Speedway. If only the council would spend some money on the upkeep of their venue the club wouldn't be in the situation it finds itself in.
