I wouldn't mind if they were solos but motocross bikes have no place at the springs, they can do their own thing somewhere else please, anyway will be lucky to have a practice, starting to rain pretty heavy now. Motocross bikes definitely have no place at the springs. The 6 there today wernt motocross or solos, but custom built Flat Trackers made for up to 1/4 mile speedway. Was looking forward to some laps but a shame the rain came through.

I can see many agitated spectators dis appearing from the Spring s if this so called promotion continues . A new broom to the promotion started this type of nonsense once at wacky Park it fazed it self out and i believe thats was the start of many competitors going to the likes of Huntly and other tracks and the club fell apart both in administration and competitors ,it is still in the rebuilding stage just look at the mods ,the names were quiet apparent a few years back ... The Springs has a reputable name throughout the world of Speedway for Open Wheelers lets keep it that way ,.. It takes one week to give yourself a bad name in business ,and 12 years to get it back ,so why start ?

Is there any word (even gossip or speculation) on any internationals down this year? Is there going to be an international focus from the new WS or has that been driven by car owners in the past?

Their won't be any international drivers at all.The drivers won't be given an exemption as non New Zealand citizens or classified as critical essential workers to enter the country.Even if each driver did receive clearance to enter New Zealand, the promoter or car owner would foot the full cost of 14 days managed isolation as non New Zealand citizens have to pay full costs. That would see very little return on that investment for the promoter or car owner. That full cost is not just for a room as per in the past. That cost includes covering nursers, 2 COVID tests in 14 days, army and security personnel, plus food as non New Zealand citizens, hence why it would be a costly exercise that only a Hollywood movie studio could afford.

If not popular at Western Springs maybe a big track like Palmy or Harrisville might suit them ? I'd love to see a field of 20 or so flat track four strokes going hard. But that's just me, I'd also love to see some open wheel racing at Western Springs, I've only been to 2 Speedway GP bike meetings and The Police concert there in 1984. Aiming to finally go this season whatever is on. I want it all..lol

So if next weekend is the first night, is anyone the wiser on what the services dedication night actually is?

I guess it is how they interpret or the definition of the meaning services .. It could be a gimmick with little fruit in the bowl ,but then we maybe surprised Percy or Barry could be host of the show ..

Well now they have sound but the volume is pretty low making it hard to hear. No grids that I have been able to hear. The track is way too dry. Taken rubber in the first 40 minutes and the first sprint car heat growing up clouds of dust.
Very disappointed.

I walked around the track only about a third of the speakers are working and they are at low volume. The FM not working. Track dust bowl.

Well. Certainly a few hiccups to get over i think. But it is a new crew. No commentators that i could hear. Actually couldn't hear much. The lime they have mixed into the track has certainly firmed the track up. Very challenging for drivers and car setup i think. Yes was a bit dusty but have seen much worse. Certainly no cushion now to drive off. The 10 o'clock curfew now is a bit of a shock but we were to get 12 meetings before the rain spoiled that.
But was still a great night.
