As rotorua would be the biggest field. Will be some time before this championships get beaten is my gut feeling. 155. nuts. That's massive.

Now that entries have passed 156 (6 groups of 26) I hope they don't decide to have seven groups.

And then 5 coming from a 21 field repercharge. Or could even do something different and have a 7 car race with all the 4th places in the groups with the winner making it two the finals field. Then two repercharges with top to going through.

Late entries will be accepted after Monday but will be put on a wait list. It's possible that no one on the wait list will get a start unless / until confirmed entries drop below 156 as the event draws closer. However, if entries including late entries get to around 180 perhaps 7 groups will be the go. Would there be space in the pits?

If they end up with 160 entries and go with 7 groups that means 23 cars per group, then 10 cars don't front and your down to 21ish per group and by the 3rd heat you may be down to only 18. So from my selfish point of view more cars per race means more action. Also with 6 groups you can take the top four and 2 from a repechage rather than with 7 groups taking the first 3 and be left with 5 to qualify. Don't mind if the Repechage is restricted to a 6 car field of the ones who just missed qualifying in each group, personally not a fan of repechages in any form on the finals night.

How about this With so many top cars missing out by ending up say 5th or 6th in group how about top 9 or 10 going through to semi final groups and then find top 4 from those groups racing for the final.

Can't wait for this. I'm tossing up whether to buy my tickets online. I'll be turning up at gates open each night but not sure what the history of online ticket sales is for NZ Speedway events.

Certainly gives the TOP drivers a better chance of qualifying. And qualifying is what should be happening to the top drivers. With my idea if a driver has 1 real bad heat through no fault of his, then at least he should still get through to the 2nd oportunity THEN if he cant make the top 4 in his group, so be it. This also does away with the repocharges all together.

Here's an idea for ramjam. Why not have 25 heats. So everybody gets to race every. Which then also gives you the grids for the 25 lap final. That way any bad race you can make up for. And while we are at it. Let's go away with waiting for your opponent. Let's race like the uk. You know just so it's fair to everybody like stand hickey.

Which then also gives you the grids for the 25 lap final Exactly,we could even go one better and just look at the entry list and pick 20 TOP drivers who just automatically qualify on the basis that they are "top" drivers. We can then run time trials for the other 140 ish cars and the fastest 6 can make the field of 26. Here's the kicker tho those 6 cars must start the one race final with no wheels on the car because otherwise they might affect the chances of one of those 'top" drivers. And yip, one race final, just incase ne of the 20 top drivers have a bad heat 1 or 2.

How bout all south island registered cars automatically qualify for the finals and the north island cars have to bash the crap out of each other for the rest of qualifying nite Then it'll be a true NZ title lol
