There are just so many errors it can't be fixed. The only fair way is to re-run the race or a 4-lap 4-car run-off.

Barry B Whilst agreeing with you that this remedy is the fairest way forward, the Alleycats have an argument that they are the race winners if the rule book is followed. Even finding a remedy in this situation is contentious!

Just post from pumas that race 1 will be rerun at 6, does that mean the exclusions still stand ie. Will Auckland have 6 available drivers or only 4?

Yep read that too, so since that race 1 from last night is nil and void, do the 2 Auckland drivers stood down get to race again ๐ . And yeah what a prize for the winner of this race, a race against the welly team who are clearly the favourites

I am an Alleycats supporter and hope they win. Good luck to whoever does win the race. Its an unenviable situation for both teams through no fault of their own.

Edit: posted before I saw the rerun has been announced, but point still stands They don't have to agree, the other team put up a good enough case to overturn the race decision! BUT then again, a fair team might have said "let's run it again"?

From Facebook (Wellington Family Speedway)
HUGE ANNOUNCEMENT: The Palmerston North Pumas, Auckland Alleycat & Speedway New Zealand have agreed to re-run teams race 1 from Qualifying... This will be held at 6pm before our grand parade tonight. What you need to know. * President of Speedway NZ will be live on The Pits Tv and Facebook explaining the decision between 5:30pm -6pm in full detail. Until the interview there is no further information available regarding this awesome update so please refrain from messaging the page. *This is a full re-run of race one, so all points and disqualifications from last night have been removed. *Points for this race will be added to last nights points to determine our Semi Finalist * Plan your trip to the track early as we would hate for you to miss the action! * Gate will still open at 4pm for general public with the re-run at 6pm and grand parade now at 6:30pm The Max Motors Wellington Family Speedway fully support the fair agreement the teams and SNZ came to for this championship. We love the idea that with an undefinable result that both teams now get a fair shot to settle the score! 5 Star effort to all involved And how good is it we all get to see one more teams race!!!!

This falls to Wellys favour, they likely come up against a team thats already had damage, also if only one car finishes the Auckland-Palmy rematch does this give Baypark a chance to finish top on points in that group?

This all makes the rule that you cannot protest in teams racing invalid, does it not?

Edit: posted before I saw the rerun has been announced, but point still stands I have no idea why Rammers. But obviously some other peoples logic agreed with mine on this particular occasion. I am, after all, your Minster of Good Ideas. It's just a shame this situation ever arose, and hopefully it never will again.
