Has anyone else noticed how the atmosphere of having a few beers and banter is frowned upon these days at the teams champs? This will be my 29th year straight and for the last 5 odd years it seems like its a crime to have a few drinks and a good time. Alot of the time it is a dirty look or a snarky comment when having to use the toilet. We have offered many a time to exchange seats so we are at the end of the row and dont have to get people to stand up so we can get passed. At the end of the day it id not illegal to drink at the track and if you cant handle it maybe just stay home and purchase the live stream? Thoughts?

Having a few shouldn't mean your up and down to the nutsta every 2nd race. Is it banter or yelling obscenities at drivers/other fans?

Its the fact there is a group of 5 of us having a couple of drinks and Is it really such a problem that you might have to stand up every 10mins to let someone through to go the toilet or get another beer. Dont really see whet the big deal is but man some people get real fired up about it.

But, of course, if you are BSing about the "couple", then why should we believe the rest of your fantasy story?

They other side of the debate is that you five "stay home and purchase the livestream". Just sayin', since you're suggesting that others do it to avoid you.......plus then you could have more than "a couple" without upsetting anybody OR without the toileting issues. I'd get pretty annoyed having to stand up every 10 minutes over the course of 4-5 hours. Barry B

I normally have a few drinks before and at the venue. Each year there has been no probs. We wear our gear and they wear theirs. Banter is amazing.
Certainly starts we we get to our reserved seats and we get to see who we are amongst. All good if people want to keep to themselves. Other than that it is a " how you going, and where are you from"? From there banter enthused or doesn't. It is an amazing meeting, that is never to be missed. 30 years for me this year.
Possibly wont have many people to talk to this year as our ticket buyer got our tickets 2 seats from the bottom, rather than two from the top.

This is the type of people im talking about…. U want to go to an event where alcohol is served, expect that people will need to piss. If you expect otherwise, you are the one living in a “fantasy”.

Furthermore, we buy our tickets on the top row, or an isle so we can get in and out for a pee.
Even if not drinking or peeing, the seats are so uncomfortable that between each race we stand to give each team a standing ovation. That also makes it easier for people to move around.
30 years this year and never had a problem with fellow patrons.

Or you could go to an event which people have paid decent money to attend, and expect that may annoy people, and prior to the event purchase your tickets in a spot where the Kmart bladder won’t effect others ? It’s a two way street

I guess the bottom line is it's about everybody respecting the rights of all spectators around them to enjoy the event as they want to, as they've paid the exactly the same number of bucks for the seats immediately alongside you. If you want to dictate to them not to get annoyed about having to stand up every 10 minutes because you lot find it impossible to sync your five Woolworth's bladders together but you don't like their disgruntled stares, there are not too many solutions really;
1/ as I suggested above; take your own advice and buy the live stream yourselves, as they're not doing anything illegal giving you the evil glares and snarky comments either 2; buy 5 or 9 large size urine bottles EACH from your local chemist warehouse (although you'd probably miss the opening and annoy those directly in front of you as well)

I feel you drink based upon what types of seats you have.you shouldn't need to pee every hour unless your not in great shape. And I would say your drinking is a problem and I'd cut it back. You don't need that much achole in the system to enjoy it. Are you there for the racing or the beers. If sounds like there is a line and your getting it wrong. Try starting your drinking later. I've never once brought achole there in the speedway. Do mine all at pubs. Usually your beside some amazing people who are quite funnie it's great

Again, you seem to miss the point! Your BSing about how little you drink, but need to go to the toilet every 10-15 minutes? Of course you are just being friendly when spilling beer down the back of people in front. May be better going to your local clubrooms with other like minded non counting friends and yell at the live stream. Just saying! Leaves others to go to teams racing to watch it without needing a rain jacket!

Happened to us few yrs , been sitting in the same seats for 10+years, these fairly loud supporters pushed on by every 10mins Only did it twice .... If u can't handle ya piss maybe u need to pick up the livestream

In our younger days we used to love drinking all day getting dressed up waving flags and ringing our cowbells and having fun often a bit of back n forth with other supporters (if it was palmy vs Wellington and they were mad for palmy we would be Wellington) we would celebrate every roll over and nobody seemed to mind sometimes telling us sitting next to us was good fun. Recent years we’ve drunk less partied less but things like cowbells have gone missing flags have been torn up costumes have been destroyed to the point that we now just sit and watch because it’s not worth the abuse.

Where was it i was claiming to be a victim? I asked others opinions on if they have noticed a change in atmosphere over the last few years, i dont feel like a victim at all. Ill shout you a beer if you show up to the teams buddy, it may loosen you up a little. Sensitive crowd this lot…

Ill shout you a beer if you show up to the teams buddy, it may loosen you up a little. Sensitive crowd this lot… You may not be claiming to be a victim, but I feel you were hoping to justify your behaviour with some support from others. It must be obvious the majority of us sensitive people who actually enjoy Palmy Teams for the racing would prefer not to put up with people who require alcohol to enjoy themselves. The last thing that needs to happen is turning this event into something similar to the Rugby Sevens where the rugby was a side attraction to the antics of the crowd and true fans stayed away. Try going and not having a drink for a few hours, its not hard, and as the majority do, enjoy the spectacle of teams racing for what it is. Consider others before you inflict yourself on them and spoil their enjoyment.

Might have touched a nerve here… bring on the teams 🍺🍺🍺🍺 No nerves touched that I can see. Only race fans who are over the anti-social behaviour displayed by a few at events such as Palmy teams, all using the defence of only having "a couple" and "doing nothing illegal". Others seem to manage to have a few without raising the ire of their neighbours, so maybe the problem lies with you, not those you obviously annoy. Barry B
