I won't quote it due to its length but it's a crying shame I could only give that last post of BarryB 1 like, and not 100

Commentators dont always comprehend in the heat of the moment. Sometimes commentary has a better angle than spectators at the track and/or those shown by the livestream cameras, and sometimes a worst view. Barry B The comprehension remark was in reference to the rule. Paul stated the "car was pointing the wrong way up the track" or words to that effect so obviously there was no confusion about the placement of the car on the track in this incident. Personally I hate this being able to hit stationary cars rule, it's not safe. Only mobile cars should be able to attack or be attacked.

Personally I hate this being able to hit stationary cars rule, it's not safe. Only mobile cars should be able to attack or be attacked. Unfortunately those with probably the worst vantage point, in so far as assessing the level of threat a stationary car may pose, are the drivers themselves. Just for context for those unsure or too young to remember how or why the rule come into effect for teams racing in the first place, and someone correct me if I'm wrong. Playing possum and then (a previously stationary) car pulling out in front of the lead opposition car with a lap or 2 left was becoming an all to common tactic, with the drivers defence being I wasn't stationary, I was moving at the point of contact, and if I wasn't moving contact would never have been made. This then lead to the situation of a car being a threat but the opposite team had no way of eliminating that threat until it was too late. So the code of ethics was drawn up by the drivers of the time, which effectively became the rules of teams racing. I dunno what can be done to fix the ridiculous situations of clearly dangerous clean outs can be eliminated without going back to the kamikaze attacks we used to see. But in line with the thread on over aggressive attacking, pls don't bring in a rule that says something like u may hit a stationary car in an attacking position but just not too hard🤣

A couple of my take aways from the meeting. Well done to red and the team for pulling it off. it was a marathon effort by all involved. How good was Otago’s first round win over the pumas!? After brad philpot clocked the parked Otago car and went on to say cheap shots are not what he’s about then smokes another parked car on a long standing yellow light, I don’t feel his public apology holds any weight. Why was Wellington allowed to use their 6th driver after the 5w was excluded from the meeting? Is Brent Stewart the smartest teams racer in a stockcar right now? If so dougie Stanaway and Daniel bermiester can’t be far behind. And finally, Is Gary Lonergan the fastest man in nz on a wet track?

Why was Wellington allowed to use their 6th driver after the 5w was excluded from the meeting? R12-4-21 The 6th driver can only be used in the event of one of the starting lineup competitors being injured, or at risk to continue, as determined by the Team Manager or Steward. The injured driver is out of the title. As written the rule basically creates a free for all where team managers can rule out their own drivers despite potentially having zero medical expertise. What constitutes an injury? A sore body? A broken fingernail? Blurred vision? If a driver is suspended and genuinely injured in the same race, can they still be substituted? We don't know what the circumstances were in this instance. 5w may have incurred a genuine injury but my point is the rule is so loose in makes the job of an official challenging.

A couple of new rules I would love to see in teams racing. No parked reversed shots.
Also love to see if you commit a infringement a d the race is stopped to remove you. Your team also loses there lead car for your infringement. Not sure how many people would support that one. But that removes whole team disqualification as a possibility.

Wow, what an epic day almost derailed by an idiotic decision but overall I have a lot of praise for the team at Huntly. It was a day those in attendance will talk about for years to come. A 9 hour meeting with 17 teams races and a card of some 32 events. The scheduling of the card was well thought out and I applaud the Huntly team for the way they did it, simulating a break through the middle of the meeting. The teams and their crews stepped up to the challenge and all 17 races were four on four. Wasn't it great sitting there in such a knowledgeable crowd? Real speedway fans who understand the sport and were engaged in what was going on.
Was really impressed with the south island teams. Their preparation was far superior to the north island teams as evidenced by the first round of action in which a number of north island squads did not put on compelling performances. One could not have denied Christchurch the title had they won. Up 4 on 3 and running one, two they had an iron grip on the title. But 45a Corey Baker, who was the MVP of the meeting, has matured into an elite level blocker. 2nz Scott Tenant made a magnificent read after being held up. Almost a lap down he made the right decision to initially keep running as changing roles would have isolated 3nz Gary Lonergan. Lonergan was able to pass 4c Lennon into 2nd place and Tennant made the crucial decision to slow and deal with the race leader at just the right time. Lonergan survived some good shots during the race.
The battle for 3rd was the race of the day, one of the hardest hitting Stockcar teams races you will ever see between Wellington and Rotorua. Sheldon Arapere a man on a mission in a car that wouldn't quit.
The track staff did well to produce a surface that had just enough in it to make the non-contact classes interesting. 17 Superstocks was a surprise given the Grand Prix was an hour up the road and the Stockcars got in on the act. Even the Youth Ministocks got into it with some of the roughest Ministock racing you'll see. Two rollovers with both drivers coming back out in the next race.
All parties performed as well as could be expected given the demands of a double meeting.
Thank goodness we got rid of those stupid numbers. These teams meetings are so much better without them and with a couple of lap scoring issues arising those confusing numbers would have caused chaos.
Percys Team of the Meeting 15c James Thian 27r Douglas Stanaway 45a Corey Baker 2nz Scott Tennant 991c Harley Robb
6th driver 5d Trazarn Ryland-Annabell

So basically, you can use the 6th driver to replace anyone in the line-up. Did Wellington replace someone else in the line-up? argument sake, 69W? Are just assuming they replaced 5W? or is there some other rule, that would allow such an event to take place. Surely those running the event would be in the know regarding such events? I didnt watch it, so i'm only going of what people say - which is inherently unreliable.

Snz seemed to have a good handle on this rule when Jared wade was excluded for hitting bex Barr after the flag and didn’t allow them to put cam roigard into his car. Maybe Jared didn’t have the prerequisite sore seat belt burn. A rule I would really like to see explored is where the 5w illegally eliminated the 78v, Wanganui should’ve been allowed to belt up the 82v on the grass and resume his position. Why should Wanganui be punished for the 5w’s actions?

Was a long day, but really enjoyed it, lapping up as much speedway as I can get, considering the crap of a season weather wise, my stand out drive,9w in the race for 3rd and 4th, didn,t hold back, and basically took out the whole of the opposition with some huge hits, a man on a mission in that race. .

Is funny how the more things change, the more they stay the same. 25-30 years ago even a casual or Neutral (as I was at the time) observer would have sold the farm and travelled to the end of the earth to watch these 2 teams meet each other in a rivalry that never seemed to get the hype of the P v S rivalry of a few years earlier but was always just a intense and brutal.

I also hate to see drivers hit whilst stationary.
Maybe a rule that suggests you can't attack from a stationary is required. If you stop for what every reason and re-fire again you have to resume the race prior to attacking another car. "resume" does not mean half a second before the leader comes passed.
Leading up to Palmy the various interviews with drivers, they suggested the worst thing bout teams racing is parked shots. I assume that means being hit whilst stopped. If cars had to resume the race in the correct direction of the race before attacking I think this would help. They should have to be going fully in the direction of the race rather than pulling out at any given angle.
If this was the case parked up cars wouldn't be a threat to running drivers and there would be no need to attack them.

Teams racing has been around for years ,and you wished to teams race for your club ,you accepted the dangers of it all . Now out comes the rule book,we need to enforce rules if you hit a stationery car ,hello it does not affect only teams racing ,so why after all this time realize the dangerous aspect of it all Back in my day we had the figure of 8 competition it did not take long before it was basically outlawed by who ,yes now we sit on the fence and wait for the sheep to pull the wool out of there eyes ..

Running this as one show is all very well but introduces a lot of issues Will there be a discounted price for later entry? If a spectator turns up at 6:45pm will they still be charged $50 to get in the gate? If so that will create a major barrier for those fans who can't attend during the day such as farmers. Same equation for the live stream, will it be one charge now matter what time you buy? What for the drivers in support classes? Will the drivers in the first half of the show be permitted to leave during the meeting when cars are actively moving in the pits? Do the support classes for the second half of the show have to get their mid-morning and do nothing all day waiting for their turn? You can't have them entering the pits in dibs and drabs whilst the first show is in progress with other cars moving in the pits. Are we expecting the crash crew to go 8 hours straight without a break? Doesn't sound like a good proposition to me given the importance of their role in ensuring health & safety. Can we reasonably expect crews to work under these conditions? Me thinks having a break between the two shows, even if it's only 1 hour, solves a lot of issues Are you disappointed Huntly pulled it off Percy 🤣🤣. Why are you always so negative about this club?
