With the Teams Champs done and dusted, and what an event it was, I draw your attention to the Stockcar Teams Champs. The 17th/18th Feb is fast approaching, and the Wellington Youngguns have named their team, and it looks pretty good.

I know it is none of my business, but I don't like seeing drivers in the stockcar teams 2 weeks after racing in the Superstock teams. Six over the three teams named. The potential for a serious injury is increased exponentially and (please don't hate me fellow Wellingtonians) but I would rather see the Young Guns lose every race, than see them win the championship at the cost of a serious injury to Brendon, Ethan or Keegan.

Then the same applies to the Alleycats, yes??? The Crushers? And the Vulcans??? The yet-to-be named Pumas (Burmeister)? There isn't going to be many teams free of Teams Champs drivers!!!

Great to welcome the Otago Outlaws into the arena!!! Now all we need is that rarity of rarities, namely two days of fine weather!

Yes, the same goes for any team that has drivers who raced in the Superstock teams. Just because there is a lot of teams using the same drivers for the two events doesn't make it right or any safer. If there was a greater period of time between the two events it would be different. As was stated the shorter the period between the two events the greater the potential for serious injury.

And to compound the problem are you suggesting that those who do both Superstock Teams & Stockcars Teams shouldn't be entering the NZ Superstocks two weeks after the second of those events also???

Why bother going and watching the sport or any sport for that matter ,maybe take up lawn bowls ,oh thats right you are able to hit the jack and roll him into the trough in front of the green .

There are protocols in place, I think they get a once over after each race and an 8 day stand-down unless they get a Medical certificate. I would imagine these requirements were suggested by some-one with medical experience in the field of concussions. If as you suggest a 2 week stand-down from teams racing should apply where do you stop. Easy then to say 3 weeks is even safer, why not limit it to one race per day because it would be safer, which it would. If that sort of thinking were adopted we would all be driving at 30kph everywhere because it is safer.

Combination of permanent roadworks, potholes and failing that just lower all the speed limits. 100% agree re not seeing anyone hurt or affected long term but hope fully the medical experts have had the right input into current protocols. It’s a problem that every contact sport is focusing on more and more ie UK rugby has changed tackle laws recently to below waist only.
