Expect 4H Josh Humble to be in the Raiders team plus one other.

Josh Humble and Nevin Shrub are a lock I would think. Nevin is probably only second to hutch in terms of best teams racer at the club and Josh has been there for everything this season and both have qualified for one of the two major titles this season. You’d be a fool not to pick them.

Rotorua Rascals last update on Facebook was 18 Jan 23. Bit quiet in the Valley of Paradise! Anyone know when they will update the team?

I do know there where 3 or 4 cars at mip on Sat night that had a run in preparation for teams this weekend so they must know who is in but unfortunately I didn't pay attention to the numbers on the 1 or 2 that had bodys on and the other 1 or 2 didn't run bodys at all so definitely don't know who they were

I hate to say it but I can see this meeting being called off sooner rather then later. My hunch is based around the huntly club (probably) not wanting to muck around the southern teams who have to cross the ferry and drive for 2 days to deal with. That being said I am prepared for a Tuesday postponement. The four major weather sites are all contradicting one anothers' outlooks. Therefore, a Tuesday call would be far too early to make such a major call Another option for Red is to do what Stratford did a few years back, run the Qualifiers from noon and then the Finals from 6p.m. the same day, i.e. run a one day Championship

Waikato weather now looking good for Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Question will be if all teams can still get to the event, especially the two south island teams.

Full team announcement! The final two names to make the list are 4H Josh Humble and 87H Nevin Shrubb makes the call up from his usual 6th driver roll to make the starting squad. After his poor boat race performance at Peter Barry’s last season it’s good to get Nevin out of this important roll. Waikato Raiders 4H Josh Humble 27H Brett Aikin 87H Nevin Shrubb 88H Justin Hutchby Captain 361H Clinton Cheetham 6th Driver 97H Kacey Cheetham

Big call to only postpone by a week if the do go that way - unlikely the southern teams will get new ferry bookings in such a tight timeframe. Fingers crossed all teams drivers and crews are OK and keen and able to carry on - be the good news story us speedway fans need!

When you look at Huntly's calendar for the next month or so, already scrunched up by rain-outs, they have no option other than to try and run on the following weekend if this weekend fails. It's just a season where e speedway is undeserving being called a summer sport, 'cos surely this ain't no summer. Somebody's havin' a larf, but it's making promoters, track staff, competitors and spectators cry. Barry B

All of napier and hastings had no power. Hastings and napier cut off from each other. there is talk it many two to three days before power restored. Only two subverbs in hastings have power currently. And cell towers seem to be down. And not sure what state the orads are north. My pick no maulers at this stage. News so hard to get around the region. We just cant communicate. It's really bad here.

You’d have to think if teams can’t make it due to a natural disaster huntly would postpone it surely? With the "summer" many tracks have already suffered from, and no real indication it's going to improve which just leads to a more and more log-jammed calendar, nobody would want to postpone a meeting unless absolutely necessary right now. I feel that if one team had to withdraw because of a natural disaster then proceeding would be acceptable, but in this case it could be multiple teams and there comes a point that the integrity of the championship would be called into question. My heart goes out again to the WSSCC who already this season have lost their SuperStock Teams Champs and the New Zealand SuperStock Champs from their original spots on the calendar, and only got the GP for Saloons done on Saturday night at the third attempt. With the NZ Stockcar Teams Champs now in serious doubt as well, and many other tracks suffering too, I can only hope fans all over New Zealand get out and support these venues when the weather finally clears. They're all hurting. Barry B
