Must be a bad year for palmy this year, their superstocks haven't really traveled anywhere this season at all. And I mean wanganui is just down the road, if you were going to go anywhere you'd think this would be one to.

Not putting a downer on this event at all, because I enjoy oceanveiw, and I will be there of course, but NZGPs are looking like one nighter events now, first night is looking like a 9 race possible 12 race qualifying night with the classes the that they are running. Disappointing turnout really for a club that trys so hard. You'd think you could at least pull 60 superstocks for a reasonably central racetrack

I feel sorry for the V club and this certainly isn't a reflection on them... But honestly GPs should have been a thing of the past. How long will tracks keep them on life support before they realise no one really cares for them in most classes
I certainly hope it's a good meeting for the host club and those attending but 1981 rung and wants its grand prix meetings back.
Bring on the haters

Bring on the haters Still bit too early in the season some drivers have only just got a meeting or 2 under their belt, and some drivers now commited to huntly teams the weekend after i imagine they may have pulled out because of this. I am abit dissapointed by the lack of entrys from the Palmerston North cars 43 is not too bad considering its over double the entrys of a south island title so will be twice the event! good to see those guys are making an effort… End of the day Ram Jam go watch some other racing plenty else on if 40 plus superstocks dont tickle your fancy

Kind of agree with Ramjam that the GP doesn't seem to have a lot of relevance any more. There's not really much to make it stand out from the plethora of other "travelling circus" events which are spread right through the season, and right across the country. There was a time when the only big events were the National and Island titles, plus the Grand Prix (and this applies to all classes). Sometimes you can have too much of a good thing...

As a driver the professialism of these events being a SNZ Title is what stands out the most, alot of these tracks i definatley wouldnt travel too on any other given day just due to fact that the way the struggle to run a basic meeting properly being a title they really pull there finger out, its also another good meeting that draws all the top cars to a different track every year sometimes ones you normally wouldnt race on and all at the same time where that would sometimes never happen. Also gives tracks a chance to run a title without having to wait 15 years for the next nz champs

This season does have one, extra-big one-off meeting for the SuperStocks, being the many-times-postponed [Covid and the weather] charity meeting at Rotorua in the middle of December. That will likely have some effect, and although that does not affect all SuperStock drivers it may affect the plans of some of the better-known names.

This season was going to be the last season of GPs but the vote went to keep them going,Speedway NZ wanted to dispose of them.

Willful blindness is a thing

Nothing against Whanganui but I think double header meetings should be after Xmas, both me and Kairyn are too busy with work as many others probably are as well before the Xmas break trying to get work out. If meetings like this were after Xmas, then I think you would get more turn up.
The other thing is that on this same weekend no other track can run Superstocks on the Saturday night as per the SNZ rules which is stink for the guys that are too busy to travel.
Good luck to everyone that has entered.

Good luck to everyone that has entered. I thought other tracks couldn't run a meeting that could be seen as a direct challenge to the SNZ title but normal club racing was ok. M4-9 If a track is not hosting the Allocated title:- (a) An application to race the class on the date of the Allocated title can be declined. (b) Its competitors cannot be denied the right to enter the Allocated title.
