Get the water truck out now.The track is bull … In field is a dust bowl track not much better. These are sprint cars not stockcars. The track allows o passing or visibility

Again high line too high not worth it.
I think they got caught out by rain forecast so put less water on. Instead of rain got hot sun little cloud cover that just baked the track

YES Magilla that sums it up ,prediction on forecast was thunderstorms in arvo .but they at least could take more notice as the day unfolded as to apply moisture to the surface . i am picking it will be a little different than tonight, tomorrow ,well lets hope so ,and with the results on who can drive on a slick track a few surprises .. Percy sheep suffer from sleepy sickness lets hope you havent caught the disease as there is only one cure and a pillow could be in order perhaps ...

There were specs of rubber in the dust. Brand new tyres were destroyed in 12 laps.

Can someone explain points structure for NZ Championship. you earn points for DNFS. surely the whole point is finish races. when you have 12 cars per heat . its very bizarre format to run.

DNF points in championships for the non-contact classes have been in place ALMOST forever. That's to get slow, damaged and/or erratically driven cars with flat tyres out of the way of cars racing at full speed, and onto the infield. The points are awarded in the opposite order to which the cars drop out. Didn't this rule come in shortly after the New Zealand Super Saloon championship at Meeanee in 1993, when the likely winner (based on form up to the point of the incident) Lance Jennings came across a wandering Pete Sloman which launched Jennings into the catch fencing? Really looking forward to this title. The level of talent in the field is deeper than the Sprintcar class has ever been. Every race is going to have multiple points of interest on a track that is challenging yet rewarding for the class. We are going to see contenders fall by the wayside over the two nights and only the most brilliantly consistent will be there at the end. With what should be near capacity crowds on both nights this title has huge potential. I wonder if PERCY has had the palm of his hand read by a fortune teller ..

Barry B Has been in the Saloon rule book for ages but only came into the open wheel rulebook following the 2016/17 NZ Sprintcar Title at Ruapuna after a very similar situation unfolded with a collision involving a driver nursing a compromised car around the track to score points

I've posted my points chart above to assist the analysis as last night was the most unusual grid draw I've seen under the 15 heat format. There are some drivers tonight who are going to have two grids right at the front and likewise some drivers who will have both their grids right at the back.
At the extreme end of the scale the grids for Joel Myers Jr and Cole Wood added to 11, whereas James Dahm added to 30. James actually advanced the 3rd most positions but finds himself in 17th= according to posted results. Believe James has grid 1 and 2 tonight so he wont be advancing much further but should find himself with a handy grid for the title race. At the other end of the scale Connor Rangi finds himself in 4th= but has only advanced 1 position. With two back grids tonight he will need to pass a lot of cars to get a decent grid for the title race. Likewise Joel Myers Jr has a bit to do despite being tied for the points lead.
Some drivers are going to rocket up the points table tonight like 6m, 22k and 19c. Others such as 21p, 73k, 4usa and 82m are much better positioned than the points table suggests.
