I've been trying to track down someone called Bruce Spargo, who I stayed with in Hastings for a short time way back 1972/3. After Googling his name I finally came across some reference to him on this site. I was greatly saddened to hear of his unfortunate death. I can't seem to get any further details, how and when he died, also where he is buried.

I read with interest your article on old drivers that have passed through the Meanee Speedway ranks such as Ian Glenny, etc. I also noted that my name appeared on that list, and yes, whoever it was that reported that I was racing NASCAR at the Calder Park Thunderdome, got that right. I had the privilege of competing with some legendary drivers during those few years. I have recently moved back to Hawkes Bay after nearly 40 years and intend to attend a few meetings at Meanee once more. What a great little track and I have many fond memories of those days.
