Interesting to see the ruling on 3 min bell after start of race!!!!! What rule allows all cars to return to the pits and return later? They changed the three minute bell rule as a select few competitors took advantage of it to the frustration of spectators and to have an advantage over fellow competitors ... But hey, they don't need the 3 minute bell, they've now gone even better, they'll let you go back to the pits and change your setup after the race has started. And the most disturbing / disappointing fact, the innocent party who got taken out, Paul Managh, on the start, was the only car missing from the lineup for the next attempt! Not the first time I've seen this happen . Seem to remember it happening at Wellington the last time they ran the NZ Super Saloon champs . Nearly happened at nelson too but there was a change of tack at the last minute .

Hey HYDROTON -- " half the field " -- I dont think so !!! , after untangling the cars , there was only about 3 that probably wouldnt have been able to continue that race -- but that is no different that any other incident when cars get a flat tyre and have a DNF -- they just have to put up with it and that is what should have happened in this incident !! I believe the refs were influenced by the announcers comments saying ' it would be a shame for the spectators "" come on -- Mintie and co -- this is a championship for goodness sake --
I recall being at Huntly for the north island supers , when there was an incident at the first corner ,, those drivers werent allowed to repair their cars -- what happened last night - should never have been allowed and I hope this is not setting a precident .
From a spectators point of view , this whole meeting was disorganised and I dont like to say it , but rather a shambles !!
As for Aarons comments -- you really needed to be there - no way could it be called an accident and emergency action needed

Ciongratulations to Brent, a wll driven championship, and also to Dave McCallion, 2NZ to the South Island.
I agree BB, it really made a farce of the whole championship.
The drivers were specifically told at the drivers briefing that there would be NO 3 MINUTE BELL once the flag had fallen and the lights turned green. The decision the ref made was a complete reneg of that rule.
I feel for Paul Managh he was the victim in the whole "incident" and if we had delayed until he was fixed then it would have been "fair"
Does the rule of a complete restart because we were still in the first lap still exist?? If not then 46m should have gone to the rear of the field for causing the yellow light. No-one should have been allowed off the track to repair, end of story.
Very bad call ref.
It influenced and spoiled the whole atmosphere all night
Not to mention the cars that were deemed illegal, only one got trailerd and the rest got to race?? Where is the logic in that??
How does that work if an illegal car takes you out- he loses his points later, if proved illegal, but your night is finished when he should not have been on the track in the first place!

A huge congratulations to Brent & his family, a very well deserved win to a gentleman racer, also to Dave McCallion great effort, and nice to see a south islander getting a place. As for us we are totally over the moon with our 5th place after having to come through the repocharge and compete with 20 of the top cars in NZ. Was awesome to watch Phil Towgood passing the trophy over to Brent down in the pits, hopefully this becomes a tradition. We felt really sorry for Red and his crew on Saturday night when they were trying to get the track sorted, all we can say is these things happen, track came right in the end and on the whole Huntly does and did a great job. To Mal Sines and Mintie, you guys were fantastic and work really well together. Roll on next year!!! Cheers Louana Skelton 59a

huntly did A good job for the weekend, the track gave sum grief on saturday, but it was awsome as the night went on.
shame about the referees, you need to find some with eyes to watch the racing.it was obvious in race 1 on saturday who was to blame for the incident on turn 1.i felt for 82m who was droped down on big time, and he suffered what looked like BIG damage.big ups to his crew for going hard and getting the car out for a skid in the last race, you could have givin up and put it on the trailor, but no,you all deserve a big pat on the back. the 3nz number shouldnt be going to the car its gone to,he should of been put to the back of the field at the restart because he was the cause of the incident, typical, trying to win the championship on the first corner.take a good look at yourself mate
well done to stick, you deserved to get 1nz,and little old blehmnem geting 2nz,good on the both of you..

The new 3NZ seems to be the target of some ill feeling.
Now I admit, I wasn't at the meeting so will not endeavour to comment on the rights and wrongs of what took place, but as is the case in all sports you play to the referee. In this instance the referee's decision may have favoured someone and allowed them to gain what seems like an advantage to some, but ultimately, you cannot direct such ill-feeling towards the competitor, in this case the 46M driver.
The fact he achieved 3NZ is something that most drivers would be proud of, and I think that some of the comments on here are wrongly being directed at this driver.
Sure he may have made an error on the track at some stage, but is there any driver that has never made a mistake. From my point of view this is a competitor who has a long background in motorsport, who strives to compete at the highest level, but he is not a dirty driver.
At the end of the day congratulations go to all those competitors who were out on the track racing to win, but especially those who achieved 1, 2 and 3NZ. Well done.
Thats my 2 cents-

did anyone hear about paul cressy getting a one year standown or something Nobody heard about a one year stand-down as it never happened. On Saturday scrutineering the carburetor off Paul Cressy's 45m, in the opinion of SNZ, had an irregularity that warrented further investigation. Paul agreed to be stood down until such time as SNZ completed an investigation. Albeit gutted to be denied the opportunity to compete in the finals, Paul took it on the chin. Not privy to all the information, as I don't need to know and if I did I wouldn't understand it! ) I am absolutely delighted to advise that all matters of concern between Paul Cressy and SNZ in regard this matter have been resolved and Paul will be back racing this coming weekend at Baypark!

What thats it. No compensation for pulling such as nice guy/family out of the champs, where he would no doubt have done very well at.

Lets start at the beginning.
1. The meeting was meant to start at 7pm....it was late due to the track not being ready. Now everyone who was interviewed by the track commentators said the "Red had done a great job" I do realise that usually the track is very good, but this night is was NOT and for a championship meeting this is just NO good.
2. The SNZ officials at driver briefing were very specific that under NO circumstance was there going to be a three minute bell after the green light had been shown for the first race. But as you all know by now the drivers meeting talk stood for nothing as they changed there mind again. And somehow not one of the officials managed to see what happened?
3. Driver were able to leave the track and do another set-up on there cars....weld bits back on etc etc. If that was allowed why wasn't Steve able to enter in another car, and Cressie able to run with the wrong Carb?? Fixing cars mid race is a no-no but then the rules change depending on who has been taken out in the incident.
4. The driver that cause the whole thing (and he knows who he is) gets a national placing??? Everyone knows its a claytons placing but it will forever be written in the results.
IMHO the whole Saturday meeting was a farce as if the rules were followed as per drivers briefing by the SNZ officials the results would have been very different.
I do how ever congratulate Brent on the 1NZ placing, a very well driven three races. And to 2NZ Dave McCallion nice to see a South Islander come to the North and get a great result. As for 3NZ Hhmmm....I'm not going there.
Hope SNZ reads some of the posts here and takes something from them. We don't want to such a fiasco again.
People are sure to read this post and get there heckles up.........but without constructive criticism nobody is going to get better.
Cheers Pud.

Did he have that shirt prepared just in case ! ;D No the shirt wasn't prepared just in case. Have to fess up. The shirt in the pic has had the Photoshop touch. Was working on the design for the real thing and couldn't resist doctoring the photo. If we'd had a shirt prepared just in case, I'd have been the devout optimist and it'd have been 1nz. Wished I'd been at Huntly that night cheering on Dave but I opted out of travelling to see if his luck changed with me not being there. looks like it did the trick
