well what a night, would rate as one of the worst meetings i have been to , those poor kids in the the kiwikids kids class absolutly get a raw deal at the springs they spend plenty of money each week getting to the track to go racing, turn up open the programme and see they only have one race absolute bulls@@t on the springs behalf , these kids are the future of open wheel racing in nz and they get treated like s@@t!!! You're kidding! Perhaps the spintcar feature should have been canned altogether - so as to give these kiddies more time to play with their toys. From a fan who traveled far the sooner promotors ban this type of dull lifeless class that do nothing but water down the quality of major shows the better. Just bear in mind this posters regular track runs things quite differently and will run Ministocks at all costs. But you are right Phill, the class plays the role that it should play and with the expanded Sprintcar schedule one race was the maximum they should be getting. The night certainly had it's highlights, the Midget racing was always entertaining, in particular heat four was a beauty. The TQ feature was fantastic as was Saldana's heat race. The Sprintcar feature didn't quite hit the spot for me but there was plenty of drama with the retirements and plenty of near misses. Was certainly not "one of the worst meetings" but at the same time it failed to reach the highest echelon of speedway meetings. I though the post from Cards was a good one. Good to see another poster not accepting mediocrity at a speedway meeting.

When i raced 1/4 Midgets at the Springs in the 90's we got one race at 6.45pm and some times if things were not going to plan we got dropped.
We had closer racing and more cars than they have now-a-days. It would be justified that the Springs made the right call in dropping the kiwi kidz to one race.

They are the future of speedway - sure, but a crowd pleaser/puller - NO. The springs is ALWAYS under pressure due to time constraints so needs to programme their meetings accordingly - even then sometimes from what I hear classes miss out! As has been said before the Quarter midgets have numourous outings at Rosebank Rd. Getting to show thier wares in front of the Springs faithful, even for one race could be looked at as a priveledge. Ruapuna generally also only gives the Quarter Midgets 1 programme race - but to be fair they often run heats before the meeting gets underway. Sdemon
