Someone may be able to correct me or confirm, but as far as I understand, the Nelson drivers registered under two numbers when they signed up at the beginning of the season, therefore nothing illegal, and a smart way to get around the new rule. So smart they finished 3rd of three in their group You may be right Richard. I haven't checked it out yet as I'm sure everybody down Palmy way is wayyyyyyyy to busy to worry about such a thing today. Bruce will likely change the wording on his local rule now, as the INTENT of the rule is obviously that all team cars race under the driver's "normal racing number". Will we see these 5 cars carrying these numbers for the rest of the season under normal racing conditions? What you've described therefore may not be illegal, but it's certainly flouting the intent of the rule to the max. To what end? Mind you, it's the Stockcar teams like the Auckland Alleycats and the Rotorua Rascals that really need pulling into line. The Superstock teams with sequential numbers weren't the ones doing the most harm........ Barry B I don't believe the intent of my first comment about this topic was where Nelson finished in their group Barry. It was in response to YOUR comment about Nelson racing with illegal numbers. If everybody in Palmy is wayyyy too busy, then surely it's not such a big issue as to highlight it as a question earlier in this thread, especially if (as Richard B points out, the numbers have been registered much earlier in the season) it's NOT illegal. Intent is one thing, but reading the rules and cleverly working around them shows a few smarts to find a loophole that 11 other teams either didn't find, nor didn't care about. If they didn't care about them, so be it. If they wanted to run sequential numbers, but didn't work out a way to do so, then they just weren't quite as up with the play were they? It's funny how some threads here highlight innovation, or working the rules to one's advantage, or being creative with the wording of a law/rule, etc....yet others seem to point the bone and suggest such thinking is illegal, or even 'cheating'.

yep....and maybe the other teams just concentrated on preparing their cars and qualifying.
They in Palmy didn't say they were too busy......considering racing was over for last night and preparations were underway for tonight, I wasn't going to bother phoning anybody and interrupting that which now, obviously to most, was much more important use of their time. As you may have read, Bruce Roberston did phone me and I asked him the question at the time. His response is above.
You're either not reading the whole thread, OR you're just leaving certain comments out and twisting things to suit your own barrow you're pushing. The comment on where the Tigers finished was in response to Richard, not yourself. Time to move on to 2016 I think, and let Bruce and the Tigers sort out what they're going to do for 12 months time.
