Like many, I've watched in awe as Peter Barry has entertained us over too short a number of years. He's really come to the fore on the National scene this past two summers, and there was more to come, so much more.
I only met him personally for the first time at Palmy's Global Challenge, after he rolled his first car for the night on the first lap of the first race. The reason for my visit was to suss him out and see if he was interested in the first invitation to Rotorua's World of Stocks. His reply? "I was coming anyway, hoping to get the wild card entry, but yeah, okay". The master of understatement, all he wanted to do was entertain us all, and often.
His Sunday afternoon exploits at Kihikihi were the stuff legends are made of. Peter Barry was a legend of the art of racing a stockcar as it was designed to be raced.
As macgor has already stated, the Barry family's loss is our loss.
Barry Brown
